In preparation for hosting Fresno State for the Mountain West Championship game this weekend, Boise State released their *official* depth chart. This, of course, comes with the caveat that it often doesn’t reflect the on-field reality. Especially if there is a player that is injured but is not out for the season. The coaching staff will often keep them listed on the depth chart, even if they don’t play for a few weeks.
Also, since SB Nation still technically owns the content of the Countdown articles we’ve constructed in the past, the links to the player profiles in this article will redirect you to our previous site.

Notable Notes
- Yet again, there are no *official* changes to the Boise State depth chart. But, even though we see Zeke Noa and Demitri Washington both listed, it doesn’t mean that they will for sure play. It just means that they are MOST LIKELY not done for the season. But maybe they only come back for a bowl game. Tbd. If they can’t go, be prepared for another heaping helping of Gabe Hunter and Andrew Simpson, both of whom have made some splash plays in recent weeks. Simpson has developed a knack for getting pressure on QBs and let’s not forget, before all the super exciting extra topping at the end of the game last week with Taylen’s 91 yd TD and Oladipo’s pick six, that it was actually Gabe Hunter that basically sealed the win with that interception in the Broncos’ red zone.
- Tyreque Jones was carted off the field vs Utah State, but Avalos confirmed–in a rare moment of what seemed to be almost accidental transparency–that he was fine and would be back this week. Must have taken a cleat to the shin or something, in which case, probably couldn’t put weight on his leg for a day or two, but apparently no structural damage.
- See anything we missed? Let us know in the comments! Regardless, always and forever…
Just looking at the “official” depth chart it appears the Broncos will be losing 13 of the 24 listed on offense going into next season. And 11 of the 24 listed on defense. That, in itself, doesn’t sound so bad. I counted George Holani as leaving, even though he may have at least a couple years coming to him. My opinion about George is that he should stay and play. His injury history will not improve as a pro. If football is his future, as in coaching, another year in the college ranks will give him more personal coaching and… Read more »
I don’t suppose Harsin would be down for coming back as Offensive Coordinator? He’s got so much darn money and Boise is his home town. I think Avalos could make a sell that Harsin would own the offense completely. So yes, he’s taking a step back in terms of not being a head coach, but he’s doing something he loves at his Alma Mater. I know there are mixed feelings about him, but I like him.
Probably a reach but stranger things have happened.
Boise – Look at guys like Lane Kiffin who made a stop as Alabama’s OC before taking on another coaching job…..not completely put of the question for Harsin…
Just to back up a bit: I encluded Harsin with a new OC on the same post. I wasn’t suggesting that. When Andy took over as HC he mentioned changing the culture. In other words, it must have been felt there was something wrong with the present culture, so why invite the head of the previous culture back? By the way, I hate that phrase, ‘change the culture.’ It’s over used. I don’t think the person who uses that has little in mind of what he’s talking about. He likely doesn’t even know what the present culture is–maybe it’s fine.… Read more »
