Happy Monday and happy LESS-THAN-A-WEEK-TO-KICKOFF DAY! Today, we’ll cover the jersey number that was once the number of dollars it took to purchase a Subway sandwich in previous, less inflation-y times. That jersey presently belongs to…

Stats

Height: 6’0″

Weight: 190

High school: Fossil Ridge High School (Fort Worth, Texas)

How’d he get to The Blue™?

Stefan Cobbs was a three star recruit, but really had the talent to be a four star. Boise State was lucky to secure a commitment from him after he was injured his junior year because he went off as a senior. He snagged 67 passes for 1,332 yards and 24 (!!!) touchdowns. He was also able to contribute on special teams to the tune of a 22.1 yard kick return average (nine attempts) and a 7.6 yard punt return average (seven attempts). For his efforts he was named the Texas 3-6A All-District MVP.

Career Highlights

He was described by coaches today as “probably the best route runner on the team”, but in addition to that, Stefan carries a statline that has 946 career receiving yards and eight receivingTDs. He’s also gotten some action on the ground (five carries for 23 yards and 4.6 ypc average), but the last two years he’s really made some noise on special teams. between 2021 and 2022, he returned 13 kicks for 246 yards, and five punts for 108 yards and a TD. The TD was an electric 81 yarder vs UTEP in 2021:

2023 Prospectus

Stefan is going to be a starter in 2023 for a stacked wide receiver corps and he is going to be a problem in the slot. He’s always had a ton of talent, but between injuries and lack of opportunities, he hasn’t been able to put it all together yet. I expect that to change this season and for Static Shock to be an absolute weapon for the Broncos.

Is he on Twitter?

Indeed, he is:

Completely made up fact

Stefan Cobbs is impervious to electrocution, as he is a dispenser of static shocks, but the inverse is that water is basically like kryptonite to him. Makes staying hydrated as an athlete very difficult…
