And We’re Back
First Kick had a bit of basketball hiatus, but we’re back at it, so welcome.
Exciting Facts and Such
1. Six Bid League??
We’ve got a STRONG league this year, which should make things plenty fun for the next few months. Starting tonight, it all counts.
2. Stats (From Jay or Any You Make on Your Own)
I haven’t got to dive into the numbers quite yet, but rest assured I will be moving forward. In the meantime, Jay gave us a helpful look into how these squads match up.
3. Big Shot Shave
Gone but not forgotten, Marcus Shaver is. Do enjoy this game-winner he hit last year around this time, and make sure to ask the basketball gods to pass on his clutch gene to another worthy recipient (Buzzo perhaps?)
Streaks
Boise State– Won 1
Losing Team– Lost 1
Player to Watch
Alvaro Cardenas, G

The guard hails from Grenada, Spain and leads the team in assists (5.6) and is tied for the team lead in points (13.9). This does not bode well for my self-criticism that I only choose guards for Players to Watch, but this one feels valid. Before losing in a surely demoralizing and heartbreaking buzzer beating loss to _yoming, he had 21-4-9, so he is certainly hot going into this matchup.
Keys to Victory
Turnovers = Bad
I don’t have the time to dive into all the advanced analytics of why this is true, but yeah, trust me guys. This team can look so good when we keep possession and very rough when we do not.
Spread the Wealth
AKA Anti-Hero Ball. Weak links will be exploited in MW play, and we need consistent contribution throughout if we want to win this like we should.
Score prediction
This team is still coming into it’s own, but I see us taking a big lead, then holding off a late rally to seal it.
BSU 77, San Jose 69

This was a very good game. Broncos showed a lot of signs of a mature team being down most of the game, but staying steady and knowing that Sparty historically only plays 3/4ths of a game led to a fantastic rally and finish!
