Curtis Weaver (Seemingly) Retires
You may remember Curtis Weaver from any number of great moments on The Blue (or assorted, lesser, green fields). He left the Broncos as the Mountain West’s career leader in sacks, with 34. He still holds the record. After concluding his Bronco career by declaring for the draft after his junior year, Curtis Weaver was claimed by the Miami Dolphins in the 5th round of 2020 draft. Allegedly, there were some medical concerns related to why he fell and he never actually made the 53-man roster for the Dolphins. He spent 2020-2022 with the Cleveland Browns before going to the Vikings, then the USFL for the Birmingham Stallions, and finally the CFL for the Ottowa Redblacks. It was that most recent career stop where Curtis Weaver seems to have retired. After about a month with Ottawa, he made an appearance on the CFL transactions page

Maybe we’ll see him around the program again. In the meantime, let’s remember how fun it was to watch him play!
Boise State Softball Falls in Championship
After an improbable win kept them alive for a chance at a conference title, the Broncos eventually lost to SDSU.
CBS Predicts Broncos to be Top G5 Team in 2024
While historically not being the most friendly outlet to Boise State football, it appears that CBS Sports at least thinks Boise State will be the top G5 program as the playoff expands in 2024.
Pro Football Focus Has a Crush on Jeanty
In a completely predictable turn of events, it appears another national media outlet has high Bronco-related expectations for the upcoming year, with PFF naming Ashton Jeanty “Easily the most versatile back in the 2025 [NFL Draft] class”
Spencer Danielson Clarifies Comments on Freshman NIL (and Other Notes)
In case you missed it, Boise State was briefly in the national spotlight last week when a poorly worded post from a local reporter (who, ftr, is actually a really good dude that made an honest mistake) was picked up by On3, who Tweeted it out to their 200k+ X.com followers. It asserted that Spencer Danielson, who is unusually open with the media, had said that freshmen would be UNABLE to get paid from NIL if they came to Boise State. That was not what was said.
In addition to that, apparently as many as 12 BSU players were contacted in attempted poaching efforts.
The whole interview can be viewed here.
And here’s some additional context:
Also, apparently SD was calling the coaches of those other teams in telling them personally to piss off (although, probably much more politely than they deserved). Pretty boss move though, tbh…
Boise State Adds Two New Football Commits
Despite all the ire that was focused on Boise State temporarily, it appears it didn’t derail the recruiting train much as the Broncos picked up a commitment from a 3 star safety and a former 3 star TE transfer from Villanova.
Odds and Ends
This was just too good to pass up…
