This week in Bronco Updates…

Boise State is Opening Shot of NCAA Game Trailer

For much of the 90s and most of the early 2000s, one of the most popular annual video game releases was NCAA Football. Fans could play successive seasons, recruit, and build the programs of their favorite teams. In fact, in 2010ish, a friend and I may or may not have started playing a season on co-op mode at 1am and completed it at 1pm. But…Boise State won a national championship over the Florida Gators, partly due to the heroic efforts of star RB recruit, Turd Ferguson. So, it was time well spent!

Unfortunately, due to legal disputes from players not getting compensated for their image/likeness, the franchise was shelved in 2013. We’ve been in a dark era since then. However, in 2021, an announcement was made that the game would be coming back. So, after a long winter of discontent, that time is almost here and the very first frame of the official game trailer, after an 11 year hiatus, is…a midfield shot of the Bronco on Lyle Smith Field!

Albertsons Stadium Voted Best Fan Attraction in USA Today Poll

Albertsons Stadium was recently voted number 1 in a USA Today Poll of “Best Attractions For Sports Fans”.

Tyson Degenhart Throwing Out First Pitch At Mariners’ Game

Organized by Boise State’s Puget Sound Alumni Chapter, the Mariners’ Annual Boise State Night is a really cool recurring event in general, but especially for fans of both Boise State and the Mariners. Tyson Degenhart is, incidentally, one of the best instances of that convergence. So, it’s fitting that he was chosen for the honor.

Boise State Picks Up Another Recruit

While Connor played TE at LSU, he was primarily a blocking tight end in goal line situations. He will be making the transition to offensive line at Boise State.

Highlights of blocking aren’t usually as exciting as the skills positions, but uh…these are pretty fun 😈
