Well here we are. A measly week left until Boise State’s first game. The relief and tension is palpable. With 7 Days until kick off we have — QB Malachi Nelson

How’d he get to The Blueâ„¢?
The former number one rated recruit (per ESPN) coming out of high school originally committed to USC. He was a unanimous five-star rated player per all the recruiting services. He decided to try something different and leave sunny Los Angeles for Boise. He had a ton of offers, we will just leave it at that.
Nickname
“Kai”
Sometimes just keeping it short and simple is best.

This one may be a slight stretch but I’m getting Damon Wayans Jr vibes
Career Highlights
In high school Mr. Nelson has quite the laundry list of achievements. While at USC he saw action in one game against San Jose State.
2024 Prospectus
What’s nice about writing this post so “late” in the offseason is we kind of know what’s going on. What’s going on is Maddux Madsen got the nod to start at least against Georgia Southern. What happens after that is really anyone’s guess. I don’t envy the coaches because they are the ones that have to make these tough decisions and if both guys had a fair shot for the starting spot, and Madsen got it for now, then we root for whoever is “under center” regardless. This is a season of high expectations so all that matters is who puts the Broncos in a position to get the W at the end of the game. We may still see Nelson throughout the season but who knows when that actually will be.
Is he on Twitter?
Completely made up fact
Mr. Nelson is also an avid World of Warcraft fan. He’s super excited for the next expansion ‘The War Within.’ Frankly I’m kind of excited myself.

I’m glad to see that there is a legitimate battle for QB. At some point Nelson will get his number called, and I hope he amazes everyone.
I hope Malachi lives forever, has significance and purpose while here, and if at qb absolutely am on board, and if not then 100% for him also. A lot happens in a season. I think we have the single best qb room in the nation right now, with “Mr Massive Upside” and “Mr Proven Winner in the System.” And at RB. And kickers. And D line (all those seniors!). And right there too with O Line. And also right there with LBs. And DBs. Haven’t looked in TE’s much though, so no data on that. Maybe Pete was brought in… Read more »
I’m feeling at peace with the quarterback depth chart standings right now. In the past when there was a big QB recruit (Rypien, Bachmeier), I always found myself wondering if the coaches were making the decision based on results or how much emotion played into it. Starting Madsen shows that they’re not riding their own hype train and still coaching with level heads.
Florida State demonstrated on Saturday that a highly talented QB transfer isn’t always the get-rich-quick solution.
Everything from training camp indicated Nelson was a good QB. It’s just that Mad Dog was better. Nelson is likely the tactician and Mad Dog appears to be–well, the mad dog. The intense competition is good for both men. It has made both of them better; as QBs and men. The fact that Nelson could not unseat Mad Dog does not mean he is overrated. To me. it is obvious Mad Dog was underrated, at least, by the recruiting services. Remember, he outplayed TG10. And when Mad Dog went down last season, TG10 came in a better player because the… Read more »
