I don’t mean this as a slam. It just seemed to me he’d much rather been someplace else. He’s spent most of his life answering questions from reporters who have no idea what it means to put together an offense.
At this point, I’m not completely sold on SD as a BSU head coach. Believe me, I want him to succeed and overachieve.
I hope the secondary is gassed up and ready to go. They didn’t look so good last Saturday. Georgia Southern’s QB was making his first start. The Broncos made him look like Dillion Gabrial. And the Broncos face Dillion Gabrial this Saturday.
i’m critical by nature but thought DK and SD’s pressers were spot on. there’s only so much that can be said – their words are also the very sauce that impacts the team chemistry, and so I’d like to hear truth spoken in clarity without lamentations
on the D side, we have opportunity for growth, yes, but there too, GS has a pretty good O, and it was the first game of the year

I didn’t understand going for it fourth and one on your own 34. Not only that but don’t even have the best running back in the nation on the field. They (G-Southern) had the momentum and you just gave them more. That could have been the game-breaker and all of a sudden the Broncos are back to the Avalos years of bad decisions. Also, I don’t understand the 2-point conversion try. The Broncos have one of the best kickers in the nation. If playing a slightly better team, the Broncos lose. The 4th down was a terrible call, the 2 point conversion attempt not so much, situations dictate going for 2 at times, in that instance if they convert a TD and extra point from Georgia Southern can only tie the game, if they kick the PAT a TD and PAT from Georgia Southern gives them the lead, if you get neither you’re still up more than a field goal. Not a bad call IMO
I agree with your logic on the PAT. However, that decision reveals a tremendous lack of confidence in your team’s defense. I’m thinking in terms of momentum. A two-point conversion, if made, does little for momentum; sure it buffers the score, but that’s it. When the two-pointer is stopped, it provides a tremendous boost to the morale and momentum of the other team.
I realize too, that an older and seasoned coach may have made similar calls. That still does not make it a good call. It put the team in a difficult situation.
