The Choate Bowl is upon us and, boy howdy, did it have some swings.
Our Hei2sman favorite candidate, Ashton Jeanty, had 209 yards on 34 carries (ouch) to go along with two catches and 12 yards receiving. Pretty solid night.
This was not one of Maddux Madsen’s “good” nights passing. He finished 9-20, 119 yards, one TD, one INT, and 58 yards rushing.
Matt Lauter had himself a night as well with 61 yards, five catches and a TD. Maddux owes him a steak dinner.
This game had fluke and “whoopsies” written all over with two turnovers apiece, special teams not QUITE as special as we would like and tackling that also… wasn’t great. This was a game that could have ended poorly for the Broncos but, with a bit of fumble luck, Boise State came out on the better end of the deal.
This was a ‘survive and advance’ game after the initial two-touchdown lead the Broncos had initially built. Hate to see it, but love the overall win.
Boise State football has San Jose State next on November 16.

Jeanty is the gift that keeps on giving. Odds sacked against him and he still bowls his way to 3 TD’s and 210 yards.
Madsen looked like trash tonight, refs bailed out the good guys a few times tonight. I’m hopeful they can look better in the future but this team left a lot to be desired tonight
I hope all the fawning over Madsen finally ceases. I’ve been saying for a long time he’s not the guy. Some writers have a man crush on him. Inconsistent QB play such as what we witnessed will not get us a win in the CFP.
Yeah, it was not a good night for him. However, a guy who throws his body into opposing players who are bigger and stronger than him has my respect. Indeed, he almost gave the game away but also had some gutsy runs that kept drives alive.

It’s not is heart or moxy that is in question. I’ve never doubted those. It’s his ability to be consistent with his passing game where I have doubts. He should have had at least two INT’s. Not knowing which Madsen is going to show up is disconcerting. With that level of inconsistency, we will not win a CFP game.
The local press had been shitting on anyone doubting Madsen. Those dumb sheep never learn.
I am still not anti madsen, but I am a skeptic and my doubts are increasing. Let’s hear the media excuses now 😂
If BSU goes into the San Jose game like they did the Nevada game they will lose.
Watching the game last night it looked like BSU overlooked Nevada and came into the game with a lackadaisical attitude.
The were sloppy and inefficient, especially on offense. Both the coaches and players seemed preoccupied.
It’s wake up time or night-night for their BCS chances.
Agreed with all of the sentiments shared here so far. My son and I were at the game, and it was even worse in-person. The offense looked TERRIBLE (other than Hei2man). WRs get no separation, O-Line got dominated, Madsen should have had 4 picks. The play-calling sucked. The D actually saved this for us. They were on the field a lot. The whole team played tight and scared. I hope we learn from this and I hope Madsen can get more consistent.
