Folks, there are just 87 short days until kickoff. Mark your calendars accordingly.
#87, Mitch Bothwell, RS Senior, TE
Stats
Height: 6-4
Weight: 244
High school: All Saints Episcopal HS (Transfer from Villanova)
How’d he get to The Blue™?
Mitch played high school ball in Texas before taking his talents to Pennsylvania to play for Villanova. He racked up annual Honor Roll awards while picking up linebackers in the run game on the football field. As fate would have it, he entered the portal after his RS sophomore year, teleporting him to the City of Trees.
Nickname
“The Both”
It’s like The Boz but with a lisp.
Look-alike

Mitch reminds me of Burney FC minority owner JJ Watt, who it turns out also played TE in college.
Career Highlights
Mitch doesn’t have a ton of film yet in blue and orange, but enjoy this footage in the meantime.
2025 Prospectus
Hard to say here. Our TE room is as deep as it’s been in quite some time with Lauter, Wagner and Terry making up the squad. That said, much of Mr. Bothwell’s pedigree comes from the run blocking game, so it’s probably unfair to compare him only on receiving capability anyway. I always enjoy good surprises, so maybe there will be more post routes like this in our future:
Is he on Twi/X?
That he does! (@mitchbothwell) Follow to see supportive brother retweets of his brother who appears to now be playing for Rice. Maybe not as good as playing for Money, but it’s certainly better than playing for Nothing.
Completely made up fact
Mitch unwittingly gravitated towards Boise State because of their tradition of pass catchers named Mitch B. While Mitch Burroughs didn’t comment on this story (probably because I never asked him to), I’m sure he would give Mr. Bothwell his blessing.

It’s difficult to see where he will fit. Luater and Wagner appear to be #1 and #2. It’s great when somebody comes in and you don’t lose much. And injuries are always lurking around the corner.
The Broncos had an LB from the class of ’26 decommit. Bummer. There are a total of six commits to date. The month of June is full of high school recruits visiting BSU.
