Does the offseason sound shorter if I say we’re less than 10 weeks away? Not sure.

#68, Jake Steele, RS Junior, OL

Stats

Height: 6-4

Weight: 302

High school: Murrieta Valley HS (Temecula, CA)

How’d he get to The Blue™?

Jake is part of the growing group of guys that took the scenic route to Idaho’s capital. After redshirting his first year at San Jose State in 2022, Jake picked up 12 game appearances in his second year with the Spartans.

He entered the portal after that 2023 campaign, spurring offers from Cincinnati and Arizona to join his brother, Jason, in blue and orange. As a bastion of unbiased analysis, I would say it was a good choice for him.

Nickname

“Stainless Steele”

It’s probably a bit of a misnomer because Jake doesn’t have the “stainless” jersey, but his quarterback sure does.

Maybe it’s just the hair, but I’m seeing a bit of Clay Matthews here? Would not be a bad career arc to follow.

Career Highlights

Jake had a solid campaign in his inaugural Bronco season. He made his debut against Utah State—where Ashton Jeanty took the opening run back for a touchdown (and most of the other runs too) en route to 599 yards of offense. He did well across 9 games playing both on the O line and special teams.

2025 Prospectus

Championships are won in the trenches. While that adage is often applied to the starting unit, it’s probably even more true when it comes to depth. Jake might not supplant Roger on the RG depth chart, but he will see time on the field, injuries or not, and the level he plays at will be key for 2025.

Is he on Twi/X?

Yup. @Jake__Steele78 is the handle.

Completely made up fact

Jake can cook the perfect marshmallow. Few have the patience and skill required to reach that perfect shade of golden brown, and Jake is one of those few. He doesn’t burn them, and he doesn’t give up with just a few flecks of gold. It’s an art, really.
