Well that was a much-needed game to have right before heading to South Bend to face the Irish. The Broncos didn’t look past the Mountaineers and put together an extremely solid performance.

Game Ball One:

Boen Phelps

Dude was solid all day. Six total tackles, four solo, one QB hurry, and that slick Pick 6. Played so well even the Mountain West chose him as the defensive player of the week.

Congrats Mr. Phelps!

Game Ball Two:

Maddux Madsen

Gotta hand it to Mr. Madsen, played lights out. Had some early misses (and had some unfortunate drops) but 321 passing yards, four TDs, and no INTs? Game Ball All day.

Congrats Mr. Madsen!

Game Ball Three:

Latrell Caples

Mr. Caples had five catches with 84 yards and two touchdowns. And no drops noted in the game book. I’ve been waiting a while for him to get more touchdowns so this pleases me.

Congrats Mr. Caples!

Game Ball Four:

Boise State O-line

While the were no rushing touchdowns (and “only” 152 yards rushing) the o-line made sure the backs could carve up the App State run defense and kept Madsen pretty clean (two sacks and four QB hurries notwithstanding). They kept the pocket fairly clean and allowed Mad Dawg to be Mad Dawg.

Honorable Game Ball Six:

Ashton Jeanty

155 total yards, three touchdowns, one reclaimed stance. /swoooooooooon

Your Turn

Did I get this right? Who did I miss? Sounds off in the comments.
