Other facts

1. Gameday Poster

I hate to say it, but we’re officially in the last month of weekly college football. Enjoy it!

2. Injury Report (And link to depth chart article)

The WR room is looking awfully thin these days. Marshall is out with a suspension this week, so it’s another edition of Next Man Up.

3. Uniforms

Black and blue will hopefully be the color of Fresno when it’s all said and done…

4. The first big Jeanty game

Ben Jensen was onto something here!

Streaks

Boise State  Won 3

Losing Team – Lost 2

Best Name On Their Roster

Logan Goodspeed, DL

Now see this was the kind of name this preview was made for. Does he have good speed for a lineman?

Best Picture On Their Roster

Mordecai Hines, DL

gobulldogs.com

I like to imagine the flash on his glasses is like some unknowable fashion trend. Futuristic, even.

Players To Watch

Carson Conklin, QB

With Kurt Warner’s son, EJ, on the outs, Fresno has a new gunslinger in town. He didn’t prove to move the needle against the Aztecs, but does want to make a good impression on the Blue.

Simeon Harris, DB

Harris is a strong piece of a ball-hawking secondary for Fresno. Interceptions will be a quick way for things to go south, and Harris likely wants to do something that nefarious.

Matchup(s) to Watch

Offense

Fresno’s defense along with their early down EPA are the two pieces of note here. The Bronco offense is insanely average when they can’t run the ball, and Fresno will surely plan for that.

Defense

On defense, the Broncos aren’t much of a run-defense team, but the Bulldogs aren’t much of a running team. They want to be! But haven’t shown much. Feels like that will be the matchup to watch.

Keys to Victory

Maddux, pls

I’ve been unable to jinx Maddux out of his recent slump these days. Unless we can play two second halves, we’ll need some above-average WR play from the skeleton crew to make some things happen. Getting him rolling would be great news today and going forward.

RTDB

Defense has earned themselves a break from the keys of victory after their performance a week ago, so I go back to the offense. Run the ball (and run it well) and we’ll have no problems today.

Score Prediction

I still don’t know what to make of this team, but it feels like another close one. The best defense in the Mountain West will protect The Blue and that’s good enough for me.

Boise State 27, Fresno State 10
