Well this is a better outcome than the last two we had.
Broncos secured another winning season with this dub and kept pace in the race to get to the Mountain West Conference title game.
Max Cutforth had his best game of the year (and by extension career) throwing for 239 yards on 22-34 passing. No touchdowns but no interceptions either. So that’s good.
The Broncos had a dang balanced attack with 279 yards rushing and six total rushing touchdowns.
Want to talk about the rushing touchdowns? Because I know I do.
Sire Gaines rushed for 149 yards on 22 attempts and adding two touchdowns.
Dylan Riley had 14 attempts going 72 yards.
Malik Sherrod was efficient adding two touchdowns on seven carries and 56 yards.
Not to be outdone Junior Seth Knothe added his own touchdown in garbage time while amassing 25 yards.
You know who also played well this game? The defense. Let me recount the ways.
The Broncos defense took the ball away FOUR times, with Zion Washington picking off Curry once, Earby with two picks and a fumble recovery that Jadon Mickey forced. Earby was busy today.
What a way to end the senior’s last game on the Blue.
Next up is in Logan, Utah against Utah State.
Go Broncos!

Utah State putting in the work to get us to a conference championship game! Next week is going to be big!
Does that mean if BSU wins next week they are going to the ship?!
I’m not what you would call an expert, but we are now only tied for second with UNLV and New Mexico. And we have beaten both of them, so that should be the tie breaker. I believe that if we win next week we are in! Anybody with better understanding of this please chime in!
This is true with one more caveat: SDSU needs to beat New Mexico next week. If not, we get a 4-way tie and the CCG is decided via computer rankings
Well that stinks because from what I have seen of San Diego, they are very beatable.
It was nice to see Cutforth slinging the ball a bit! A couple really good throws that were dropped didn’t help the drives nor point total but, I liked what I saw. Clearly he needs more experience, this being only his second start. He seemed to go through his progressions nicely. Having the time to do so (for the most part-other than missed blocks) sure helped. The timing for long throws needs work but, his short to medium passes were right on the money. He can sling the ball, that’s for sure. His performance lends credence to the thought that… Read more »
It will be a good game. BSU Offense will need to be consistent. Utah State has some really good momentum and will be playing at home. I think we are going to give up some points so we will need to control the ball and end drives with TD’s.
Would love another crack at San Diego State. I think they were very beatable.
And, USU will certainly want to finally win a game against us! San Diego was a coaching loss. They were beatable and, if things play out well, we’ll be in San Diego once again.
Oh my. Riding a 9 game win streak against the Gaggies. It’s like a 25-5 advantage all time. Some would say the Aggies are due.
Some is going to be disappointed!!!
I wouldn’t mind ruining their day…never have!
finally? They beat us in 2015
Finally what? As Boise stated above, we have a 9-game win streak going. I’d like an even 10.
Technically the Broncos got another fumble recovery when Colorado State passed backwards, but the refs clearly wanted to keep Colorado State in the game at that point. I’m referring to this as Spit Gate.
Spit Gate is good. I Couldn’t think of a more suitable name. Was really disappointed that Danielson had them kneel it at the end. That was the perfect time to send a message and dial up a deep ball.
I can’t believe that play wasn’t reviewed. I was screaming at the TV for that one, and the follow-up non-called personal foul. That one made me livid! Idiotgate would work too, considering the refs…
Yeah, I thought non-football unsportsmanlike acts were all reviewable. Let’s say for example that some 25 year old BYU player that’s married with 11 kids who spent 3 years on a mission pumping iron decided to punch a Bronco square in their special place. You would think that would be reviewable.
Such is life.
I think I’ve seen that story before on live TV…While the ref was watching…And did nothing.
That taunting call on CSU was the absolute worst call I’ve ever seen.
Followe closley by the no call spitting. I think the rules state the referees on the field do not have to see an unsportsman like conduct foul to call a penelty.
It appears Harsin and Wilcox are free. I mean seriously! How could we not at least have a conversation about bringing them in as consultants for a season or until they land other gigs. They have a lot of head coaching experience. We need some wisdom injected in our young coaching staff. I get it, they are head coach types. They have the added bonus of potentially bringing some players with them. That Freshman QB at Cal is a stud. He made a lot of bone head freshman plays but that’s just what Freshman do! Again, pitch it to them… Read more »
We should all relax. This was CSU.
Relax like we will continue to suck on Saturday or relax like smoke two joints and talk to my Jerry Garcia in a bag?
You mean like these guys???
I was thinking more like Half Baked.
I mean, just because they beat one of the worst teams in the conference, they are not elite.
Was someone here claiming that they were?!?
I’ll take answers to questions that nobody asked Alex!
