26 days to go and we got a good one today! You all know him. Presenting Mr. Sire Gaines.
#26, Sire Gaines, Jr, RB

Stats
Height: 6’0
Weight: 220
High school: Orange Vista HS (Perris, CA)
How’d he get to The Blue™?
Gaines was originally a commit to Arizona State, but he made waves when he decommitted from there and signed while Spencer Danielson was still an interim coach.
The 3-star recruit was clearly a different beast the second he arrived at Boise State, where he cleared 100+ yards and TD in his first game in-uniform at just 17 years old. He has since made it quite clear that Spencer Danielson was a key piece in his move to the City of Trees.
Nickname
I’ll be honest, you don’t really need a nickname when your government name is Sire Gaines. But if you really want one, I’ll go with “Yards”, as in “Yards Gaine(d)”.
Look-alike

Hard to find a good lookalike for Sire, but the lookalike machine says he’s kinda like Jason Derulo without the beard, and I always respect the lookalike machine.
Career Highlights
In his first full season of college football, Gaines picked up 4th-team All-MW honors after racking up 811 yards and 8 touchdowns on the ground. Those stats earned the 19 year old phenom 3 freshman of the week honors across his redshirt freshman season and true freshman seasons, and an 88.9 PFF rushing grade, good for 13th-best in the nation.
2026 Prospectus
A year ago, many (perhaps a bit kool-aid drunk) fans expected Sire to take right where Ashton Jeanty left off. Not only did that not happen, but Dylan Riley catapulted himself into the RB1 spot as a bit of surprise. Now to perhaps surprise you readers, I still think Sire Gaines is the better back between him and Dylan Riley, at least as far as pure talent is concerned.
But “pure talent” is a funny thing. Gaines coughed up 4 fumbles a year ago, one of which I specifically remember being quite costly week 1 against USF. On the other hand, Riley has yet to fumble in his college career.
All of this to say, the expectations for Gaines are high this year. He’s an immense talent capable of elevating this team, and if you ask me, I’d expect him to. A full offseason of Gaines sanding off the edges and it wouldn’t shock me to see him elevated to superstardom.
Is he on Twitter?
You can find him @GainesSire. Good for a nice tweet every now and then:

Completely made up fact
Sire is really sick of the Gaines puns that you all make. Please please stop asking him about his gym “Gaines”, and please nobody ask him about his yards Gaine(d).
