Other facts

1. Gameday Poster

And we’re back again.

Rasean Jones takes the spot on the graphic after a sensational game for the true freshman (although I know “true” isn’t a designation anymore)

2. Depth Chart

We actually have a depth chart this week, check it out here.

3. Uniforms

Maybe a hot take, maybe a normie take? These helmets are way better than the ones last year, specifically because you’ll actually be able to see it on TV. Very excited to see how they look on the new Blue.

4. Big-Time Progrum

The most watched week-1 game on CBS in 28 years you say? The 6th-most watched BSU game ever?? The masses want Boise State football. Just wish we would’ve won the game.

5. Another Big Noncon on The Blue

I wish I could’ve picked the 2023 Memphis game for this tweet… but today we go with the premier noncon game in our last playoff season. I wouldn’t mind if Sire/Dylan racked up a billion yards as well.

Streaks

Boise State  Lost 2

Losing Team – Won 2

Best Name On Their Roster

Ellis Ellis Jr, CB

Ellis Ellis Jr. is a legit East-West bowl name. And you best believe we’ll have little Ellis Ellis III on our best name feature in 2046. (Maybe instead of III he could just be Ellis Ellis Ellis?)

Best Picture On Their Roster

Eddie Alford, OL

Eddie Alford wants to stare into your soul a little bit, and though I have no way of telling, I think he can.

Players To Watch

Jaylin Carter, RB

Jaylin Carter has been on a heater in 2026, and already has 280 yards and 4 TDs two games into this season. (To be clear, that is a lot, but I understand Jeanty may have broken brains on such expectations). It will be a long and frustrating day if this guy gets going. Broncos will want to keep the good tackling rolling this week.

Taylor Burton, DL

Burton is an anchor on the Memphis DL that has greatly impressed this season. Now it probably has something to do with the UNLV line being bad, but I saw Burton and that Memphis line get what was something like 5 sacks on the last 5 offensive plays for UNLV. Was a shocking performance. Now I know we just played “greatest OL ever” Oregon, but I suspect we won’t get to take this week off either.

Matchup(s) to Watch

BSU Run Game vs. Memphis Front

There’s many reasons to believe in the Bronco offense this year. Putting up 27 on a very talented Oregon team feels good, and while the running game wasn’t explosive, it wasn’t negative either. But we don’t get any moral victories this week—either our running game is good enough—or it isn’t. I’m inclined to think that the rush defense isn’t as good as their pass rush, but it’s a bit early to tell. Sire and Dylan are experienced backs now, and it’s time to see what they are.

A quick read of the table, the two opponents Memphis has played have given up a decent amount on the ground. Arkansas State especially was running pretty good, but got behind and was forced to throw. There’s an opportunity there.

Keys to Victory

Avoid the Hangover

Maybe the part I’m most worried about is carryover from the Oregon game. If the Broncos come out with the same fire they did against Oregon, I feel fantastic about this game. But it’s easy to get up for #2 Oregon, let’s hope that same motivation is there against Memphis.

No SINS

Spencer Danielson’s Self-Inflicted-Negatives (actually I think that may actually be a Coach Pete term?) has a wide meaning, but specially here I call to memory the way the Broncos were quite clean on penalties. They didn’t beat themselves. That kind of discipline will go a long way tomorrow as well.

Score Prediction

This game has me nervous. Spencer Danielson gave me serious belief last week, but this game is a substantial one, and we haven’t exactly performed against American Conference competition lately. That said, I think, if anything else, home field advantage takes us home.

Boise State 31, Memphis 27
