It was Kellen Moore’s night. Who cares that the Broncos blew a 28-3 lead (the most dangerous lead in football)?
Well, we care. We care a lot. But anyway, alls well that ends well, I suppose.
Basically a tale of two halves.
The offense and defense were absolutely COOKING in the first half, jumping out to a 28-3 lead.
Just the first half alone: Maddux Madsen was 18-21 for 202 yards and two rushing touchdowns, and a pass TD. Dylan Riley Broke the 1,000-yard rushing mark with 52-yards and a rushing TD.
The halftime show was great with the unveiling of the Kellen Moore statute.
Then the second half started. And the Broncos didn’t get the memo.
36 unanswered points by Texas State. An almost mind-blowing meltdown of epic proportions.
And to add insult to literal injury, Maddux Madsen left the game needing to be helped off with a ginger knee.
Max Cutforth had to come in, cold, and get the Broncos back ahead. Cutforth was able to hit Rasean Jones (this dude is GOOD) to get the Broncos to at least back within four, but the two-point conversion failed. His first of three passing TDs.
In an absolute WHIRLWIND of a fourth quarter, Max Cutforth threw three total TDs to bring the Broncos BACK in front and pull out one of the dumbest wins in a while.
The Broncos get a bye and then Oregon State comes to town. That… will be a stressful game.
Go Broncos!

Wow, just wow! This game took me to a dark place in Bronco lore…but out of the depths of such nefarious places, heralded a young Cutforth! Definitely the spark that the team needed at the time. I hope Maddox heals quickly, but I know the Broncos are in good hands if it takes a bit.
Im still confounded by the shellacking after the half…It seemed no urgency and loss of control on the line, but kudos to the team to rectify one of the craziest second halves I have witnessed.
I’m still committed to not droning on about the QB situation, but I will say this: we lose this game if Cutforth doesn’t come in when he did. That’s a fact. Jack. And he made it look easy. Because it was. We have receiver talent. He put the ball in a place for them to be able to make a play. Imagine that level of threat and how the opponent has to play now that the only real threat isn’t the run game. Turns that run game to 11. Gutsy win. Winning every damn game isn’t easy. It was ugly… Read more »
