If you’re having counting problems, I feel bad for you son. I got 99 problems but a countdown ain’t one! Mmmmm. The Countdown. New look, same ol’ awesomeness.
I am so glad to be back in this groove (but also kind of nervous about the road this is going to take). The countdown is a big undertaking but I am so glad we have the crack team of the FKWG crew to get all these taken care of (and some guest appearances of course).
With 99 days left, we have — DB Nick Hawthorne.
#99, Nick Hawthorne, Freshman, DB

Stats
Height: 6′ 2.5″
Weight: 181
High school: Boswell HS
How’d he get to The Blue™?
I feel like I use the term ‘being awesome’ a lot. But here is the thing: it’s the truth! Athletes don’t just come to Boise State by accident so it’s nice to be able to just leave that blanket statement.
But, wait, there’s more!
Mr. Hawthorne comes to Boise State from Boswell High school as a three-star athlete per 247Sports. Hawthorne played on both sides of the ball as a WR and CB.
He had crootin’ offers from Pac-12 members Oregon State and Colorado State (hopefully people get this joke), Utah State, and Miami of Ohio. Hawthorne did a good by choosing Boise State.
Nickname
“Heights”
Hawthorne going to the “other” Miami would have made a ‘Ohio is for Lovers’ joke go pretty well here.
And I think a DB reference could be made too.
Look-alike

Ray “Cyborg” Fisher
Career Highlights
Obviously not much in a Boise State uniform but while at Boswell he played 11 games amassing 44 tackles (24 solo), 10 pass breakups, and four interceptions.
2023 Prospectus
For now it’s learning the next level and getting ready for his opportunity. Obviously he could see at least four games to get some experience without burning the redshirt but–hopefully–he won’t need to go past the four. Just excited to see him in the future.
Is he on Twitter?
He sure is!
Completely made up fact
They say that if you sneeze while traveling 60 mph, your eyes will be closed for 50 feet. Hawthorne’s eyes would be closed for zero feet as he’s always watching. Always. Watching.
The countdown is back! I’m glad I stumbled on this today. We need some strong cornerback and safety play after losing some serious talent. Lots of unknowns on defense this year.
Not impressed with his raw speed numbers. They must have timed him with a 50 mph wind in his face because on the field he looks fast. I think he has all the ingredients to be a good DB; toughness, quickness, and instincts.
