Here’s a curveball to kick of your Independence Day weekend: A wide receiver profile in the 60s. Don’t worry though. Jersey numbers haven’t gotten so wild that this is going to be his actual number. Rather, it’s because we don’t actually know what number is going to be assigned to him yet and there isn’t another #64 on the roster. So, happy (6)4th of July weekend, and let’s learn about…

Stats

Height: 6’0″

Weight: 175lbs

High school: St. Thomas Aquinas High School, (Fort Lauderdale, FL)

How’d he get to The Blue™?

Jackson hails from St. Thomas Aquinas, a football powerhouse that boasts 14 state championships and 3 national titles. He didn’t have a lot of film out there, but he made it to one of Boise State’s camps and he and the staff impressed each other enough that the Broncos made an offer and he accepted it within about a week. For the record, he missed his senior season at STA:

Nickname

“Action Jackson”

It rhymes, albeit imperfectly, but let’s not look a gift Bronco in the mouth!

Look-alike

I had to turn to a lookalike generator for this one and it came back with Billy Bob Thornton (really?), River Phoenix (really??), and…a musician I’ve never heard of, called Ozuna? Apparently their algorithm is on drugs, so obviously I went with that final one because it was the only one that was even REMOTELY close.

Career Highlights

Jackson has not yet had the opportunity to compile any highlights at the college level, but he played for one of the most successful high school programs in the country and they don’t just give those spots away.

2023 Prospectus

Boise State actually has a ton of depth at wide receiver on the roster this year, between Bowens, Cobbs, Caples, MacAlister, Strachan (flashed big in the spring game), Whiting, and Austin Bolt. And with Taylen getting better and better as a passer last season, I expect a lot of guys to catch a lot of passes this season. That said, I anticipate that Grier will largely be utilizing 2023 as a year to accumulate experience and knowledge, but maybe also gets some playing time on special teams or in runaway games.

Is he on Twitter?

Yes. And as the son of Dolphins GM, Chris Grier, he has access to some pretty impressive tutors at the position. Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and–oh, yeah–this guy!

Completely made up fact

As a child growing up in Florida, Jackson once adopted a pet salamander he found in a creek. Things went great until it outgrew the jar it lived in because it was actually an alligator…
