It’s Friday. The weekend is here. You know what is also here? A day closer to kickoff. Technically today’s honoree is actually number 55 but since we have doubled up numbers/days, and some gaps to fill, we had to push some stuff around. So with 36 Days left, so lets talk about — LB Gavin Hambrick
#36 (55), Gavin Hambrick, RS Freshman, LB

Stats
Height: 6′ 4″
Weight: 226 lbs

How’d he get to The Blue™?
A three-star recruit, per 247Sports, out of high school, Mr. Hambrick was excelling on the field despite playing right in the midst of COVID. He was a top 100 recruit per ESPN. He had offers from service academies Air Force and Army. Fordham and Northern Arizona also made offers. He ended up going with the right decision.
Nickname
“Brick”
His last name says it all, and he looks just as stout as a wall of them.
Look-alike

Director Justin Lin
Career Highlights
He redshirted last year (with no playing time) so for now it’s mostly high school stats for “real” game opportunities. As a senior he had 97 tackles. Not bad.
2023 Prospectus
I expect big things from every player that steps on the Blue. Whether or not that happens isn’t for me to decide. Having said that, Mr. Hambrick has some solid opportunities to get some playing time and be a contributor. Dude is big and there is going to be a lot of opportunity in the LB corp what with limited starters coming back. I do expect Mr. Hambrick to get some extended playing time.
Is he on Twitter?
He does but he isn’t that active. So if you want to follow him, go here.
Completely made up fact
Mr. Hambrick is a huge fantasy/science fiction reader. His favorite author is none other than that busy writer, Brandon Sanderson. Hambrick has already sped through most of the Stormlight Arhcives and the Mistborn series, natch, so now he’s moved on to Sanderson’s much less well known form of literature: poetry. Hambrick thinks its just ‘ok.’
Don’t we seem to have A LOT of young potential loaded in the LB gun right now? It makes sense having Avalos as our head man. I could be wrong but it seems like with Misa, Ripp, Tatum, Jones, Wilborn, Notarainni, Martin, Milkovic, and of course Hambrick we are loaded with young potential LBs. It will be interesting to see who rises to the top and if we can keep them all around.
Actually….after looking at our 2023 roster, half these guys aren’t even on the team anymore. Dang. Well we still have quite a list of young talent but attrition is a beast I guess.
