The past week for the Broncos was a bit of one in… turmoil? I don’t know. Losing your no. 1 receiver with three games left seems somewhat less than ideal. Oh well games still need to be played.

Thankfully the Broncos had New Mexico on the docket. I know we cannot rely on traditionally “lower class” opponents but even Vegas had the Broncos at almost 30 point favorites.

For the first quarter, and part of the second, it felt like defense was optional.

After the Broncos opened up the scoring on their opening drive with a beautiful pass from Mad Dog to Austin Bolt (remember him?) the Lobos responded with their own rushing touchdown from Jacory Croskey-Merritt.

This back and forth did continue some with a George Holani touchdown, matched by a second JCM rushing touchdown.

To answer, Madsen lobbed a 74-yard touchdown pass to Prince Srachan. Looked pretty good if you ask me (the Lobo defenders did a super-bad job defending).

From there it was all Broncos, thankfully. The Broncos rattled off 27-straight points.

Mad Dog, unfortunately, injured his knee just before halftime and was seen in a knee brace for the second half.

The Broncos walk away with a 42-14 win after a tumultuous week which was desperately needed.

As of this writing, Hawaii is up on Air Force 27-10 and San Jose State up on Fresno 35-10. Broncos need to win out to make the MWC title game but it is at least still in the cards!

Broncos have Utah State down in Logan next weekend.

Go Broncos!
