Boise State Adds 18 New Broncos to Football Team
From BroncoSports.com:
“Boise State head coach Spencer Danielson announced the addition of 18 players to The Brotherhood on Wednesday as part of the early National Signing Day. The early additions to the Class of 2024 include 16 high school players and one junior college transfer.
Of the 18 additions to the roster, nine are expected to enroll in January. That brings immediate depth to a roster that was struck by the injury bug during the 2023 season.
The early signing class is comprised of athletes from seven different states and one foreign country (Ireland). California, Arizona, Idaho, Oregon, Montana, Utah and Texas are all represented on the list of additions to the Broncos roster.
There are four additions to the program that have signed with Boise State after being ranked in the top 10 in their respective state.
Boise State not only adds depth to its roster, but is bringing in plenty of speed and versatility that will keep the Broncos in a swarming and attacking mode on the field. Nine of the 17 additions competed in track and field in high school with three – Dylan Riley, Sire Gaines and Treyvon Tolmaire – running sub-11 second times in the 100m dash. Meanwhile Cameron Bates, a receiver that ran 36.58 in the 300m hurdles, is the fastest wide receiver in the country in this year’s signing class.
Additionally, six of the nine track athletes also rank in the top 85th percentile nationally in their position group in the 2024 recruiting class.

In addition to the news about recruiting, there were a couple of other tidbits that (seemingly) indicated the retention of a couple more assistant coaches. Particularly, that Demario Warren and Nate Potter are likely to remain on the coaching staff, despite not officially being announced yet, since they were being interviewed today.
Important Note About Portal Announcements
And, just for good measure, here’s one more bit of speculation…
Holani Says Goodbye
Also of note in the last 24 hours, George Holani posted an official goodbye to Bronco Nation and announced that he will be entering the 2024 NFL Draft
I know that the stars and ratings don’t tell us what is in a player’s heart but on average they better be good. This appears to be a subpar year for recruiting. It was no longer the best in the conference.
However, I’m confident BSU coaching can coach them up. OKGs play their best when they come to The Blue.
Let’s roll.
In looking at it a little more, I think this year’s class is actually pretty good. Our class is now up to 69 overall (composite ranking, 247 Sports), which is ahead of practically every other G5, and even beats out UCLA and Colorado. We are second in the MWC to only Colorado State – they are only higher because they recruited more players. Our average ranking per player is higher than everyone else in the conference aside from SDSU (84.44/player to San Diego’s 84.93/player). Also, Danielson and the other coaches mentioned there is a LOT OF SPEED in this class.… Read more »
Agree. I took another look at the recruits and watched the video that was available. If the path taken by Danielson is the one I think it is, I’m pretty confident in that path. The Broncos aren’t looking for starters out of high school, but rather recruits who can be developed and molded into what is needed in a year or so.
Sire Gains appears to be another McNichols only bigger.
There’s some talk that Chubba Purdy may be coming to Boise.
Who is saying this, I’d really like to know. Didn’t see anything about this nor do I have ANY idea how he plays but additional depth is very welcome.
This is all rumor. I’ve seen it in a couple of sources. Here’s one.

I see that Cal has offered him, be surprised if BSU could compete with that offer.
TCU and North Texas made offers also. Wherever he goes it will be his third program.
Also, the reports of Purdy’s interest in BSU are from “a source.” That could mean something scrawled on a bathroom wall. Apparently, there are no offers from Boise. That said, he is likely trying to get some NIL dough. That will be tough; his college stats are far below that of Mad Dog’s. He may be saying, “Show me the money!” and Danelson might say, “Show me some stats!”
I’ve been following this closely. And reading the tea leaves.
Tea leaves say, “San Jose just offered Chubba a scholarship.” They went on to say, “Because there has not been an offer from the Broncos; Chubba is not OKG.” Tea /eaves went on to say, “OKGs earn IOUs, they don’t expect it.”
I agree Purdy is not coming to BSU and that is fine. I think the slow process to this point is to the Broncos advantage. I wish we could find a high quality one year QB that wants to leave it all on the field and is not afraid of competition. Then we can see if Madsen or Tiller are the longer term option.

It is interesting. thank for the link.
We live in a world worshipping fame, power, and NIL money. Loyalty is a principle held close. Often money rests between loyalty and our heart. It can get in the way. No one wants to be a sucker and be loyal to someone or something that does not give some sort of reward. In college athletics, a free education was rewarded for participating in a sports program. However, colleges began treating athletics as revenue for things like gender studies labs and blotted teaching, administration, and coaching salaries. At the end of an athlete’s playing days, they had to vacate the… Read more »
The Broncos are unable to attract a worthy QB from the portal or they are being slow and methodical. I think it is the latter. There is plenty of meat on the hoof. Some really good QBs have crowded, by way of the transfer portal, to just a few programs. Only one per program will be able to give a guy snaps. A good QB should want to go to a place where he knows he can play–get in his snaps. Perhaps one reason the Broncos are not attracting a big-timer is NIL dough. I’m sure they (the QB) are… Read more »
