This week (technically two weeks, because there wasn’t enough news last week) in Broncoland…

Championship Rings Distributed

The rings are tasteful and modestly sized

Okay, but for real…is that a ring or a giant watch with a very small band? It’s like the hand equivalent of a noggin boss

North End Zone Project Update

Now that I’ve been to Jerryworld (and Ford Field), I can confirm that the “game within the game” that is stadium development and fan experience is very worthwhile.

Washington State did something similar to this a few years ago, where they reduced the capacity slightly but increased the experience overall. It’s actually really cool, the difference between going there as a kid to when I went in 2017 for…let’s not talk about why. It still makes me mad. At any rate, it sounds like the capacity reduction isn’t going to be permanent in our case.

Boise State Announces Home and Home With App State

Boise State ended the 2006 season with one of the most impressive (and definitely the most entertaining) underdog wins in NCAA history in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl. However, App State kicked off the 2007 season with a giant-killing performance of their own, knocking off what was–at the time–the #5 team in the country:  Michigan. That Michigan team would end unranked with a 9-4 record. Conversely, App State would go on to a 13-2 record and their third, consecutive FCS National Title. However, it was still absolutely shocking for an FCS team to go into the home stadium of a college football blueblood and win. App State has since ascended to the FBS level and compiled some very successful seasons. Per the announcement from BroncoSports.com:

Both programs are known for their dominating home-field  advantage. Since 2000, Boise State has compiled a home  record of 135-16 (.894), the third-best home winning  percentage in the nation. App State has posted a home mark  of 134-26 (.838) in that same timeframe, ranking seventh in  the country.

Coach Danielson Completed The Murph For Memorial Day

For those unfamiliar, The Murph is a workout done to pay homage to Lieutanant Michael Murphy, who was KIA in Afghanistan during Operation Red Wings. It has since turned into a substantial charity effort that’s raised millions for the LT. Michael P. Murphy Memorial Scholarship Foundation. The workout itself is a 1 mi run, followed by 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 bodyweight squats (in whatever increments can be managed by the participant), and is concluded with another one mile run. All of this is done while wearing a weighted vest or body armor.
