#91, Ahmed Hassanein, Senior, DE

Credit: Broncosports.com

Stats

Height: 6’3

Weight: 272

High school: Loara HS (Anaheim, CA)

How’d he get to The Blueâ„¢?

I’m not sure if you guys knew this, but Ahmed is actually from Egypt! (That’s a country in Northeast Africa). As far as his recruitment went, 24/7 tells me he had an interesting array of offers that made it look like he was an elite basketball recruit (Duke, Kansas, UCLA), but got his most important offer just two weeks before signing day. He signed the dotted line and the rest was history. Dreams do come true.

Nickname

“The Hassassin”

This is tried and true, and so fitting. Ahmed has made a living in the backfield, and I’m certain he’s not a face opposing QBs like to see.

Look-alike

The Situation.

Our perfect patented lookalike machineâ„¢ gave “The Situation” a 31% match with our beloved Hassenein, the third highest scoring match! How am I to argue with science? Now, who is “The Situation” you might ask? Apparently he was in Jersey Shore, why he is “The Situation” I’m not sure. Hopefully I’m not disappointing anyone with my ignorance here. That said, the comparison feels apt only because Hassenein will certainly be a situation, perhaps even “The Situation” for defenses this year.

Career Highlights

You could always see the pieces were there, but 2023 was his breakout season. He had 12.5 sacks and 16.5 TFLs , including 0.5 sacks for 9 straight games, the longest such streak in the FBS since 2015 (shoutout the Bronco Sports website for that one). He’s a monster on the line and an absolutely key piece of the defense.

2024 Prospectus

Among the brightest of any Bronco this fall. Expectations are sky high for Ahmed, and for good reason too. It sounds crazy, but I think one of the biggest indicators of this season will be Hassanein’s production. If he takes his great end of last year and puts himself in that superstar category in 2024, I would feel safe believing we’d see him in a playoff game in December. I also feel good about him helping us start a new NFL draft streak this next April.

Is he on Twitter?

He is known to tweet from time to time, @A_Hassanein91. But even if you don’t follow him, you’ll probably see his name on Twitter, looking or not! Here’s a good one:

Completely made up fact

One reason why Ahmed gets so many sacks is due to a new rule passed last season, which requires QBs to make a written request to defenders if they’d like to avoid taking sacks. Unfortunately for MW QBs, many of these documents misspelled Ahmed’s name, prompting a conference-wide Quizlet be made for them to help protect them this season.
