This was a battle of heavyweights slugging it out.

Heisman frontrunner Ashton Jeanty was the star of both offenses with 192 yards and three touchdowns. Unfortunately that wasn’t quite enough to overcome two special teams touchdowns (and Oregon’s own offensive prowess) to keep the winning streak against the Ducks alive.

With four minutes left in the game, the Broncos had a chance to milk the clock, at least some, and then get a field goal to take the win. HOWEVER after a Jeanty four yard run, the Broncos then threw it two times for incompletions and had to punt it. I’m writing this from my desk at home, not a member of the Boise State coaching staff, so I guess that’s whatever. Just kind of seems like we had a couple of dudes in the backfield that could get 6 yards.

The Ducks were able to march down the field to the Broncos’ six for a walk-off field goal to win 37-34 in regulation.

Some notables though: the Boise State defense (mostly the front seven) kept the team in the game with two crucial turnovers that led to 14 points. And were able to sack Ducks QB Dillon Gabriel four times. The Ducks offense had only allowed 10 sacks the last two years. That’s pretty good.

Lots of positives to take away from this game despite the outcome.

Go Broncos!
