Welp, that happened. A pretty great throwback to the PAC-12 After Dark of days gone by that just didn’t break for the Broncos in the end. Since we’ve all had some time to sleep it off and grab a coffee, let’s have a very rational discussion of what happened.
- ASHTON JEANTY IS THE TRUTH
- Oh god I hope we don’t break Ashton Jeanty
- I am unreasonably sad about no longer having 3-0 over Oregon. That goose egg was so much fun to hold over their douche bro online fans.
- Stacy Collins’ seat is boiling hot for the moment. It’s fixable, but I shouldn’t be out here praying for every kick.
- I don’t think it’s time for the Malachi Nelson Bat Signal just yet, but Mad Dog didn’t really wow anybody with his stat line last night.
- That said, Mad Dog stayed clean, managed the game, and didn’t do anything to out-and-out lose the game, and his receivers weren’t exactly trying to make him look good, either.
- The O-Line should win all the awards except for the few second half series where they were kinda meh.
- I have seen defensive back units at BSU gel and improve as the season moves along, but it’s been a minute. Hoping Dillon Gabriel truly is Him and we’re on the uphill grind to destroying MWC pass games.
- No transitive box score win for Idaho, which is nice.
- F*** Peacock. I never loved all the weird cable channels and packages, but so far streaming sports hasn’t been an improvement.

You hit every metric in my head. A. Ashton Jeanty is the best running back in college football. If he continues, the Heisman is his. B. Lesser luminaries will fill in nicely in the coming weeks. C. They know they were lucky to get this one. D. Collins has too good of a track record to dismiss him. Things happen. Good coaches will find what is needed. E. The guy with the brains and closest to the situation (Koetter) plays no favorites. He plays the best man. If Nelson shows a grasp of the playbook, we could see him. F.… Read more »
Oh, I almost forgot; thanks for posting this. I like it.
Can we just skip the third quarter for the rest of the season?
Agree on all points. Mad Dog plays with tons of heart but his performance was just ok. I don’t expect another Kellen but I long for the days of having a QB who really excites.
1 sack, NO INT, several chances to win game, strange “drop the ball (did the whistle blow, did other players come onto field?) thingy happened, and lost by 3.
very happy with the fight of the team, maybe not the outcome, but waaaaaay better than last year
They actually credited Jayden Limar with the TD because he picked up the dropped ball on the kick return. Last years team loses that game by 20+
wondered if other players came on the field first, making it too many players penalty, or if the whistle had blown, etc. It was a long time before any “recovery”
that said, a loss is a loss. Still don’t know if I’ll every actually pull for Oregon though throughout remainder of season.
Oregon’s secondary was on our receivers like white on rice. It wasn’t really competitive. And to be honest, Oregon’s receivers were running away from our secondary. Shocked that they didn’t try more deep shots. That being said, the decision to get away from the run game late was the most shocking part of that game (aside from the complete collapse on special teams). They were plugging us up pretty good, but Jeanty is a home run hitter and Gaines is no slouch either. Why not continue to ride the part of our game that we are most successful in? Any… Read more »
Gabriel missed two wide-open receivers by inches. They ran right past the Broncos.
And I think Teubner’s targeting was the wrong call.
I agree with lots of the thoughts on here. If the Heisman goes to a running back, then Jeanty must be the one. Overall, I am proud of the team and fairly happy with where we are. We still have a good shot at a CFP invite. If we win out (with wins over the Beavs, Cougs, and UNLV + a Mtn West Championship) we will definitely be the G5 playoff person. The only thing I’ll add is that I am worried about Madsen. He was not great on Saturday. He’s a gutsy kid and he played really well in… Read more »
I’m disappointed with the loss. If BSU has a Heisman candidate and you know you are better than the Ducks, run the ball and run down the clock, then kick the field goal for the win. I wonder why they pass on second and third down and end up punting the ball. They emptied the backfield on second down! No play-action?
Side topic, but newsworthy the pac12 is planning a rebuild with Boise State, San Diego State, Fresno State and Colorado State. Better late than never? Does the pac-12 still have a seat at the power table?
I don’t really care if they do or not. We weren’t good enough for them for 20 years. Now they want us to jump out of a conference that is improving and into an 8 team joke conference? The mountain west needs to have serious talks with the ACC about survival and joining the conferences together. A west coast and east coast division. Guaranteed that Oregon State and Wazzu would come running!!
no seat
it’s a game of whack-a-mole that changes it’s paint occasionally
