Other facts
1. Big Whoop
Portland State cancelled their last matchup thanks to a whopping cough outbreak on the team. Team doctors have cleared things though, so we should be good to go.
2. S O L D O U T
Boise State has sold out the first three games of the season. Good work JD, and good work all of you!
3. THREADZ
My perhaps controversial take on Bronco Twitter last night was that this is my favorite uniform combo, and I stand by that. Night game whiteout should be a lot of fun too.
4. Happy Birthday, Matt!
May he get many targets tomorrow.
5. Blowouts?
Look, there are a lot of reasons to think we will win this game by a lot. Throwback to the most lopsided Boise State game I can remember in quite some time.
Streaks
Boise State – Lost 1
Portland State – Lost 2
Best Name On Their Roster
Jacques Badolato-Birdsell, RB

Just a truly exquisite name. Were he a Bronco, we could call him “Birdman” or “Ja BB Gun”, I mean the nickname potential is through the roof. But since he’s not on our team, should he drop a pass or miss a block on Saturday, we can simply say “Birdsold”.
Best Picture On Their Roster
Peyton Wing, LB

I forgot to grab his position when I pulled this picture, but I have to say, linebacker somehow checks out.
Players To Watch
Dante Chachere, QB
Chachere threw for one TD and ran for two more against Wazzu. Since it seems like we’re gonna get a lot of practice against mobile QBs this year, it’s a good place to start.
Tyreese Shakir, DB
Look, we all know how well members of the Shakir family play on The Blue. Shak 2 lead the team in tackles in their last outing against Washington State, and just be careful is all I’m sayin.
Keys to Victory
Don’t Get Whooping Cough
I know the doctors said it was all good, but should the Broncos get whooping cough, it would be bad.
“Just right” Amount of Jeanty Carries
Look, we need to advance the Heisman agenda, but we need to keep him around. A 60 point win with a Jeanty injury is a loss in my book.
Clean Up
Tune up games are for getting things right. We need to get the passing game back on track from the second half of Oregon, and we need to get our special teams units back in shape. I’d say throw a couple TD bombs and get a punt block in there while you’re at it.
Score Prediction
I consider myself to be a cautious person when it comes to game predictions. That being said, Portland State lost by 30 to a middling FCS team in Weber State. Add that on top of a team missing players from whooping cough and not having started practicing until Wednesday??
A lot can happen, but this might be the most lopsided game we’ve seen in a hot minute over here.
Boise State 63, Portland State 7

My favorite blowout in recent history was against UConn in ’18 when we won 62-7. I remember watching that game and thinking that John Hightower was the fastest man on the planet.
The NIU one is also cool, though, because Notre Dame thought they were going to blow them out, but walked back across campus with an L.
Hijacking this thread:
I’m sorry, but 3 incompletions in a row against an FCS team is unacceptable. Is Mad Max the best QB we really have?
Fumbling a punt returm? Is this pop warner?
Glad to see Malachi in, but it’s obvious why he’s not the starter.
