Game one in the Cayman Islands tournament went just as one would expect. The Broncos cruised to an 83-69 win over Hampton. Tyson Degenhart led all scoring with 25 points and 5 rebounds.
This is a tournament that the Broncos are expected to win and win big. Despite the fairly weak competition, it’s a good watch to get to know new players and debate lineups for conference play right around the corner. New Broncos Javon Buchanon and Julian Bowie are finding their roles and have started to make an impact on this revamped Broncos team. Also doesn’t hurt to see seasoned vets like Tyson and O’Mar show why they were projected first-team all-conference players.
Despite the large margin, there are flaws in the system and things to iron out. I have all the faith and confidence Leon Rice can fix those things before the big games against Washington State and Saint Mary’s next week. Until then, sit back and enjoy the fireworks. There is more where that came from!
