1. NET Rankings

The Initial NET Rankings of the season came out on December 1 and the Broncos came out at 38 in the Initial rankings, making them a Q1 game on the road and a neutral court. Some other notable NET rankings for the Broncos are: Clemson 18, Boston College 150, and San Francisco 52. Boise State is now 1-1 in Q1 games, 1-0 in Q2 games, 1-1 in Q3 games, and 1-0 in Q4 games.

2. Electric Newcomer

Javan Buchanan has now had back-to-back games where he has put up 24+ points. Despite the heartbreaking loss in the Cayman Islands, Buchanan has given the Broncos something to be excited about for the next two seasons.

3. Early Season Jitters, what’s new?

Ever since the Broncos have started consistently making the tournament, each of these seasons has featured a very disappointing loss. In 2021-22 it was Cal St Bakersfield, in 2022-23 it was South Dakota State and Charlotte, and in 2023-24 it was UNLV at home. Now following a Boston College loss at a neutral site, a team that opens the season at 150 in NET, could the Broncos repeat this pattern this season? Only time will tell.

The senior guard has boasted a 14/8/2 stat line thus far into the season. He put up a season-high 22 points in the previous matchup for the Trailblazers, in a game they lost to Portland State 71-68. The Broncos will have their hands full trying to stop him this game.

Get the Ball to Javan Buchanan

He’s absolutely killing it, no reason to not give him the ball right now.

Don’t give up a last-second shot when only up by 1

Ok, maybe I’m still a bit upset about last week but I think this would be a good key to victory anyway.

Score prediction

After a heartbreaking loss on the island, I expect the Broncos to come home and get back on track versus a lower-tier opponent in a solid performance.
