Without a known opponent yet, Boise State head football coach, Spencer Danielson, met with the Boise sports media today to talk about a number of things. Among the topics were his thoughts on the transfer portal, his affirmation that he expects all three running backs to be back next year, and his incredibly high opinion of Malachi Nelson and willingness to help him in any way. Because there wasn’t a particular opponent, or more obvious directions for topics, the questions were a little more scattershot, but one of them hit on something that turned into a really great answer: Coaching and how Spencer decided he wanted to be one. It’s actually an incredible story. Let us know what you think below!

To date, it appears that 6 or 7 Broncos have entered the transfer portal, the most notable being Malichi Nelson. From the sounds of SD’s conversation with him, there is likely little opportunity for him next year. Indeed, he wants to play and we can all assume that he thought a year ago the Broncos needed a QB and he was the man. The thing is, unless he can get on the field, he will never reach his potential. And he could not dethrone Mad Dog. The other players have seen little to no action this year. The Broncos have… Read more »
Also, Wayshawn Parker, from Wazzu, entered the portal. He put up some impressive numbers his freshman year. (this past season). Boise made him an offer last year.
To attract him, there’s likely no NIL moola.
The Broncos signed DL Dion Washington from Hawaii, Nevada originally recruited him. I think he has one year of eligibility remaining. The Broncos played against him and probably liked him.
interview with Washington.
An Ohio State Olineman, Miles Walker, is predicted to come to Boise. He has three years of eligibility remaining.
Boise vs Penn State in the Fiesta Bowl. Can’t wait!
Ashton will get a big piece of the pie. The key will be, Mad Dog and the receivers. It would be nice to see a sprinkling of an effective game from Dubar. Is Gains healthy yet?
PS had two pick sixes, so yes Maddsen will need to be on top of his game. Jeanty will need to be in beast mode, and the o-line will need to have their best game all season.
I read somewhere that Dubar and Gains are on the mend, but I wouldn’t expect too much from them. Just some occasional relief.
I really think the D will decide this game for us. If the DB”s and safety’s have a good game, we win hands down.
Watching the game, I think we’re very evenly matched in most places, and we outshine PS in others. As far as the picks, SMU’s QB threw them right to the DB in both cases! I think the weather was certainly a factor. Being inside an enclosed stadium will make a difference and, you know PS has to scheme specifically for Jeanty which, as you said, should open up the passing game. My son had an interesting take on the last 4-5 games. He said it almost looked as if the coaches knew we could win the game, so they were… Read more »
Keotter made a remark in one of his pressers about that. Something to the effect that they (the other team) can only prep on the film they have. So, there may be a scheme in there.
GO BRONCOS!
I missed that! Very interesting gameplay if it’s true!!
Welp, guess that idea was wrong.
I watched the Ohio State/Tennessee game. The Buckeyes batted down four of the Tennessee’s QB’s passes. He is 6’6″. I’m glad he wasn’t 5’10”; otherwise, they’d say he’s too short.
A week and a day. The wait is painful.
In the meantime, if Boise holds on to everyone, next year the offense looks good. However, the defense better have a good off-season; especially up front.
Has been a weird post season. Not a lot of bowl games and the ones that have been on haven’t been good. So many players transferring that it makes it difficult to watch. ESPN and the other sports commentators have been insufferable. Downright hostile to the G5 schools and any conference that isn’t the Big10 or SEC quite frankly. Going the better part of a game calling Fresno State the “Bulldongs”? That is not an accident. That is actual malice. Go to ESPN’s website. They have the Ohio State V Oregon pre-game hype on there. You wouldn’t even know Boise… Read more »
