Stats

Height: 6–0

Weight: 192

How’d he get to The Blue™?

Penry was a 3 star recruit out of college, and chose to start his career at Colorado after turning down Columbia, Dartmouth, and Harvard. At Colorado, he played under one Mike Sanford before making the switch to Blue after the start of the Deion Sanders era.

Nickname

“Penry for your thoughts”

Especially if you’re thinking about dependable slot WRs!

Look-alike

The lookalike machine, through complex algorithms I couldn’t possibly explain, selected Lars van Riesen for today’s lookalike. I have not seen Red Tails, but a brief glance at the wiki tells me he’s not a good guy in the movie, so let’s hope Penry proves to be a menace for opposing DBs.

Career Highlights

Injuries have remained a challenge for Penry, but he put together a respectable 164 yards on 14 catches a year ago. Surprisingly, he hasn’t logged a TD yet for the Broncos, although he’ll likely achieve that with health on his side. Off the field, he’s cleaned up all the academic awards you can get in college football.

2025 Prospectus

The wide receiver room was expected to be a bit of a question mark after the departures of Camper, Bolt, and Strachan, but Chris Marshall hype has brightened those expectations somewhat. Maybe lost in the discussion is Penry, who is among the most experienced in the room and has shown flashes in his past two seasons. As mentioned previously, injuries will probably be the key factor for Penry, but otherwise it wouldn’t be out of the question for him to be a mainstay in the slot.

Is he on Twi/X?

He is at the cleverly named chase_penry. Not a big tweeter, but recently he’s been good for a few tweets about investing, so JD will probably want to stay in contact with him!

Completely made up fact

Travis Hunter was initially hesitant to make the move to Colorado, fearing lost playing time to Chase Penry. Once Penry moved to the most successful program in the west, Hunter finally felt comfortable enough to make the move.
