Welcome to a new season of Bronco Basketball. In this era of the transfer portal, it’s easy to get lost in your favorite team’s happenings. Worry not, friend; Mason will be your guide. This year’s team feels different because, for the first time in 5 years, we don’t have Max Rice or Tyson Degenheart leading the Broncos. Let’s get to know the new faces rocking the Blue and Orange.

Who did we lose?

  • Tyson Degenhart – Lost to graduation
  • Alvarado Cardenas – Lost to graduation
  • O’Mar Stanley – Lost to graduation
  • Emmanual Ugbo – Lost to the transfer portal – Now plays at Washington State
  • Dylan Anderson – Lost to the transfer portal – Now plays at Murry State
  • Chris Lockett – Lost to the transfer portal – Now plays at Jacksonville University

That’s a lot of minutes, points, and most importantly, leadership lost. Fear not, Bronco Nation, because Leon looked into the portal and the recruiting board, and I think he found himself some gems.

Portal additions

Drew Fielder – Jr – Forward/Center – Previous school: Georgetown

Dylan Anderson – Sr – PG – Previous School UCLA

Rayzhon Bergersen – Rs Jr – Guard – Previous school NNU

Aginaldo Neto – Freshman – Guard – NBA Academy Africa

Spencer Ahrens – Freshman – Forward – Bella Vista College Prep

Noah Bendinger – Freshman – Guard – Corner Canyon High School

Bhan Buom – Freshman – Forward – Link Year Academy

Coach additions

The players on the court aren’t the only additions to the team this year. Leon brought in another former Bronco, Coby Karl. Coby was a fan favorite back in the early 2000s. He brings 10+ years of NBA assistant coaching experience to an already loaded coaching staff. Personally, I love the move, and it speaks to the Bronco Brotherhood.

Preview What’s Next

This article is the first in a series of three that will discuss how all these new players fit into this roster and provide an overall season preview for the upcoming Bronco season.
