Well folks, it’s really that time again. 100 days until football. If you think about it (but not too hard), the season is really starting today.

Before we get going too far, I wanted to make a brief State of the First Kick Was Good Address. It’s been a hectic year for many on the team, and I wanted to apologize for the drop off in coverage we’ve had the last couple months. We’re hoping to make a few changes around here to make sure this thing can go until the heat death of college football.

To that point, we are in the process of recruiting new writers, and we wanted to open it up to our readers here as well. If you or someone you know loves writing and Boise State, you should consider applying! We can’t promise who or how many we’ll be able to take, but we can promise we’ll cherish your application. (At least I will anyway)

With all that out of the way, let’s get this thing kicked off…

#48, Ryan Brekke, Freshman, TE

Stats

Height: 6’2

Weight: 216

High school: Owyhee High School, Meridian ID

Source: broncosports.com

How’d he get to The Blue™?

At nearby Owyhee High, Ryan played for the illustrious Coach Burton. While perhaps not as notable of a Burton product as the distinguished and prolific HunterFKWG, Mr. Brekke compiled an impressive career as a two-sport athlete. Across three seasons he totaled 1,110 all purpose yards both as a receiver and a ballcarrier.

Notably, Ryan is part of the growing club of legacy Bronco athletes. His dad, Jim Brekke, played TE for Boise State from 1995-1998, and seemed to have remembered to pass the TE gene along. Luckily for us, Ryan’s letter of intent was seemingly signed alongside his birth certificate, making for a smooth process.

Nickname

“Anger”

Since I can’t find a nickname, one shall be bestowed. With hair that red, he looks like he could star in the next Inside Out movie.

Look-alike

How much mileage will we get out of this red hair you ask? Honestly, we might never give it (or you) up, but we might let you down.

Career Highlights

Peep the highlights (but skip the one against Borah out of respect)

2026 Prospectus

Probably not much? I would save your money betting on a 2026 Brekke Breakoutâ„¢, but it would certainly bode well if we see him get some action on special teams or garbage time this year.

Is he on Twi/X?

These days, most athlete Twitter accounts feel like following small businesses (respectfully), but every once in a while we get some gems. @ryan_brekke‘s got the spirit:

Completely made up fact

In spite of his name, Mr. Brekke does not have a particular affinity for breakfast food. Interestingly enough, he’s one of the few champions of lunch food.

To defend this, he notes the splendor of lunch food—from leftovers from last night to a plain ham and cheese sandwich, to even leftovers from 3 days ago. It’s that kind versatility that wins the masses.
