2 weeks from Bronco football and 1 week from week 0. We are oh-so-close to the Most Wonderful Time of the Year. As for today, let’s talk about Demetrius Freeney:
#14, Demetrius Freeney Jr, 5th Year, DB

Stats
Height: 6’0
Weight: 196
High school: San Leandro HS (San Leandro, CA)
How’d he get to The Blue™?
Circuitously. After playing QB and DB during his high school career, Freeney earned a spot at San Mateo Community College and spent the 2022 season there. The following year, in 2023, he moved on to Miami (FL) and got into three games on special teams. During the 2024 season, Freeney got on the field a bit more, this time as an Arizona Wildcat. He had 7 total tackles and a fumble recovery.
Nickname
“Dwight Jr.”
At this point, I’m sure most people think of The Office, but I still remember Seattle Seahawk great, Dwight Freeney.
Look-alike

Today the lookalike machine went with Anthony Mackie, brother of former associate professor of Engineering at Tulane, Calvin Mackie. I’m not caught up enough to know if Anthony is going to be in the next Avengers movie, but I hope that Freeney proves to be an Avengers-level threat this year on the field.
Career Highlights
Demetrius made 11 appearances a year ago, including 2 starts. There, he notched a pair of solo tackles, forced a fumble, and played some good defense. PFF gave him a 71.4 grade for that effort, which, in English, means that he did well.
2026 Prospectus
New corner spots are up for grabs this year, and Freeney has his hat in the ring. You can never have too many corners, and no matter how you cut the cookie, you’ll likely see a healthy dose of Freeney this year. Unless you show a lack of effort so bad it makes go viral (looking at you, rhymes with tanks), Freeney will be an important piece of the 2026 defense.
Is he on Twitter?
@nolimit_meech, is the handle, one which implies that he is without limit as a player. I probably need to come up with official names for these categorizations, but he’s a supportive tweeter, often retweeting in support of his brothers.
Completely made up fact
In a recent presser, Freeney made an important point that I think is underdiscussed in society today. “Why make such strong distinctions between ice cream, gelato, and custard? Is it not just all milk-based sugar treat? And while we’re on the topic, why do Italians have to be so pretentious about their pizza? Are they just insecure that we made their invention better?”.
Wise words from Freeney there.
