With a Wednesday night tipoff for the 2022-2023 basketball season, the Boise State men’s basketball team took on a seasoned South Dakota State squad that had already started their season on the road.

The Jackrabbits started off hot, and the Broncos couldn’t seem to get a shot to fall. Things tightened up about midway through the first half, with the Broncos evening the score.

The Jackrabbits refused to go away, however, and led 36-31 at the break. After halftime, the Bronco men staved off a few scoring droughts and Jackrabbit runs, falling behind by 13 at one point before finally riding a hot night from senior Max Rice to a late 66-64 lead.
The Jackrabbits tied it up, and Marcus Shaver Jr. missed two at the line on the other end. A quick SDSU score gave the Broncos the ball with 1.6seconds left in the game, and the final shot did not go in.

After a tightly contested second half, the Jackrabbits escaped ExtraMile Arena with the win, 68-66 over the Broncos.
