I’m not gonna tell you it was a pretty game, but let’s just say defense wins championships.

Despite being heavy favorites, the Broncos were neck and neck with CSUN late into the second half. However, the Broncos did the important thing (the scoring more points part) mostly by some impressive keepaway at the rim by Degenhart and Smith. Shaver lead all scorers with 19 while hitting 8-9 free throws, and Jace Whiting continues to play like a scrappy coaches son, clearly the heir apparent to Max Rice (sorry Kade).

All in all, the Broncos found a way to stay ahead when it mattered. Most importantly, they beat 1976-78 BSU captain Trent Johnson’s CSUN…suns? by a score of 55-46.
