How’d he get to The Blue™?

By way of the ol’ Transfer Portal. The Transfer Portal giveth and the Transfer Portal taketh away. In this case it giveth to Boise State in a big (literally) way!

Mr. Newton comes to Boise State from FCS school Northern Arizona University where he saw time in nine of the 11 games last year as a junior.

In high school Newton had 109 tackles and 12 sacks throughout his career.

Not all of these are going to be good. I’m just trying to make my way through.

Career Highlights

Nothing in a Boise State uniform (yet) but lets cross our fingers.

As a Junior at NAU, Newton had 36 tackles, three sacks and two pass breakups.

2023 Prospectus

Boise State coaching staff really hit the defensive line hard in this recruiting class. Last year the Broncos only had three guys for their Defensive Line spot (they differentiate the tackle spot, so I am too). As of this writing, they now have eight guys. Kind of seems like they placed a priority there for some reason. Broncos lost some big guys up front in Scott Matlock, Divinie Obichere, and Isaiah Bagnah. Considering Newton’s experience, fingers crossed he’s going to be a plug-and-play.

Is he on Twitter?

Completely made up fact

An avid Go player, Mr. Newton was able to crack the top 500 ratings. He did decide to retire as he knew that his calling, for now, was on the gridiron. But he has vowed to come back to Go. With a vengeance.
