How’d he get to The Blue™?

I’m still wondering how they found Roger! The 3 star OL hails from Jal, NM which is at the bottom right corner of the state. Despite being in the 2A division, Roger was the #1 recruit out of New Mexico in 2021, and probably did numbers for the Jal tourism business.

Nickname

Out of curiosity, I enlisted AI for this one to see what it could come up with. Not stellar but I’m a little partial to R.C Cola for some reason.

Last year I really liked the nickname “Renaissance Rogelio”, since Roger is short for Rogelio. But I think today I’m gonna go with “Corporal Carreon”. Perhaps it’s because he’s oft to say “Roger, carry on”.

Look-alike

You might think I’m crazy for this one, but I’m getting Nick Jonas. If Nick grew a bigger beard and got a nicer smile like Roger’s he still wouldn’t have a chance on the football team, but at least he’d look a little more like Roger.

Career Highlights

Very abnormal for a true freshman on the offensive line, but Roger actually started against UTEP in The Game We’d All Like To Forget About. Nobody really played good in that game, so I wouldn’t hold it against him, but it certainly bodes well for his future.

2023 Prospectus

I really feel like his early experience will be key. I’ve said before that I thought Roger was the gem of the 2021 class, so I’m very enthusiastic on his future. There’s probably too many people in front of him to garner a starting role this year, but I wouldn’t be shocked to see him be a rotation piece.

Completely made up fact

Roger’s resemblance to Nick Jonas is more than just looks. Roger was president of the Jal HS’s chamber choir all 4 years there. Best of all, Roger sang baritone for the JalTones, taking 3rd place at the Barbershop Harmony Society’s Midwinter Festival his senior year.
