How’d he get to The Blue™?
A friend of the family had a connection to the Broncos already helped steer Mr. Ripp to the Broncos. Not necessarily BECAUSE of the connection, but made it easier to justify coming to Boise.
The former three-star recruit (per 247Sports) had offers from fellow Mountain West member San Jose State and several FCS teams.
Clearly the best squad won out.

Career Highlights
Ripp sat out last year for the Broncos. But during his senior season at Los Gatos he had 103 tackles, a force fumble, a fumble recovery, and an interception. On the offensive side he had 277 yards receiving and six touchdowns on 16 receptions. Pretty good I’d say.
2023 Prospectus
The LB corp is going to need to come up big on the season. Schramm is the oldest of the bunch (sixth year while everyone else is RS Soph at the “oldest”). The relative “greenness” of the position group is going to have some growing pains. But should serve up some exciting results as the year goes on. Looking forward to Ripp contributing in a meaningful way for the team.
Is he on Twitter?
He does, right here. But he largely Retweets stuff so not a ton of “original” content.
Completely made up fact
An avid Rubik’s Cuber (or what we call a “Cuber”) figured out how to solve one all by himself without any tutorials. He’s highly competitive in the Cuber competitions, Mr. Ripp is always looking for fun and exciting ways of solving a cube. His next rendition will include trying to finish a tray of lasagna while solving several cubes at a time. Should be fun.
Jake the Ripper–like, what else?
An interesting year where our OFFENSE wins the spring practices. I am sure someone has said the last time that has happened, but it seems forever ago. Our defense always seems to have the upper hand. I am super excited to have an explosive offensive year. Our O-line seems to be stout and experienced. Our RB room is best of the conference. Probably even more than that. Our qb is on the rise and we hope to keep him out of the nfl. And we are stacked deep at receiver (although someone needs to step up and prove to be… Read more »
Enjoyed your comment but when talking about receivers, what about Mr. Miller or SWR? Just kidding. I think I’m in the same boat as you. There are just some question marks on the D side of the ball. However, every season is like Forest Gump’s proverbial box of chocolates.
I’m kinda excited about the BSU offense as well. But only kinda idk about the new OC but I’ve never really looked at his resume. Now if Dirk was returning as OC I’d be more pumped.
There is a narrative that Avlos wants an offense to stay on the field and grind out the yards to give the defense as much rest as possible. Maybe he does, (I don’t know) however, if you have race horses you don’t ask them to pull a plow–let ’em run.
He has a pretty impressive resume so far. Washington OC, Atlanta Falcons QB coach, Missouri QB coach and play caller the last few games. Word also got out that he was a finalist for the KC Chiefs QB coach job after he started at Boise State, but luckily he’s still with us. A lot to be excited about, but obviously we just want to see it on the field
