Notable Notes
- As you may have noticed, there is a somewhat consequential adjustment to the QB depth chart, with CJ Tiller about to debut as the Broncos’ starting quarterback for the LA Bowl
- George Holani is apparently now healthy enough that, in addition to co-starter at running back, he has also been elevated to the top of the depth chart at punt returner.
- Some shuffling with depth along the defensive line, particularly with EDGE and end. Washington and Stege are no longer present, whereas Jayden Virgin is now listed as a starter. Also, Gabe Hunter has re-emerged on the depth chart. He had a number of splash plays down the stretch in 2022, but has largely been pretty quiet in 2023 (so far!)

ITS TILLER TIME!!!!
Any ideas on how Tiller will play like? Got to be difficult to have this as his first start, hopefully he’s up for it.
I’m thinking somewhere between Nick Patti and Tom Brady. So yeah, the expectations are sky high!
I don’t even know what kind of QB he is. Pocket passer? Does he have any mobility? Lean on the run game young man! He’s gonna need to make some throws to win it though!
Had to answer my own question.
https://www.hudl.com/profile/12954084/CJ-Tiller
He has good mobility. He may in fact have a cannon attached to his body. Some of those deep balls are other worldly.
Here is my prediction: Our next 4 year starter. After the Tiller era you won’t remember who Kellen…. Errrrr… Bret Rypien was.
Let’s get it done boys!!!!
Hmm, first time Nick Patti and Tom Brady have ever been mentioned in the same sentence. Sort of elevates Tom.
And the legend lives on.
I don’t remember, did Patti ever get in a game when he was here? I do remember a lot of hype surrounding him.
Hope there is a steady tiller on hand.
Broncos gonna roll the Bruins Tiller it hurts?
That’s a tough one.
At least you tried.
I feel like that should be engraved on my tombstone.
Mine will be, “I finally finished something.”
The starters and everyone on the depth chart on the offensive line are over 300 pounds.
This is a young team. There are underclassmen at every position.
Honestly, a lot of players are coming back: RB – Even if Holani leaves, Jeanty and Dubar I think will be great TE – Matt Lauter hasn’t played much, but looks good when he’s been in. Three touchdowns in the past three games. WR – Only Bowens is leaving, but if Latrell Caples is healthy he’ll take his spot. This might be the only position I’m worried about OL – Both Right guard and right tackle graduate, but Carreon (Fr) started a few games at RG and did well. Dooley at Left Guard can use his COVID year if he… Read more »
When you put it that way, we actually came out of the transfer portal madness pretty good. Over 4,000 players in the transfer portal and Boise State had 2 transfers? I would say that is below the average.
Future is bright.
1500 people in portal. It is a fact…
Across all divisions?
The people in the best position to make the starting decision at QB have spoken. They have put their confidence in his physical and mental abilities.
Why not Colt Fulton? His task all year has been to relay plays. Maybe starting him and placing the headsets on Tiller is too risky.
I’m going to say that the more likely reason is that Danielson and Hamden have a different opinion than Bush and the prior coach did about where these players were on the depth chart.
Where’s Austin Bolt?
[…] it’s actually a fluke because it won’t last one offensive series into this game. The starting QB for the bowl game has already been named. It’s going to be CJ Tiller. It’s worth checking out the […]
