Last season’s Mountain West Freshman of the Year, Taylen Green has more than just Bronco Nation’s eyes on him leading into the 2023 season. Green’s explosive speed has turned heads, and has thrust him into the national spotlight as a marque matchup against Washington to start the season looms.
#10 Taylen Green, Quarterback, Redshirt Sophomore

Stats
Height: 6’6
Weight: 221
High school: Lewisville High School, Lewisville, TX
How’d he get to The Blueâ„¢?
Green was a top level dual-threat quarterback out of high school, coming in ranked in the top 25 for the dual threat quarterback position. Both ESPN and 247 listed him as a 3 star recruit, and he finished as a top 100 recruit out of Texas. He holds the record for his high school in the long jump, and threw for over 2,000 yards in multiple seasons. His junior year was especially impressive, throwing for 2217 yards with 25 touchdowns and only three interceptions, as well as rushing for 445 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Nickname
Taylen Gone
This nickname comes from the fact that usually that’s what opponents think when he gets outside the pocket. The amount of breakaway speed Green possesses, combined with his ability to cut and be explosive from the first step, is ridiculous (just ask Colorado State). When he decides to pull the ball, he turns from Taylen Green to Taylen Gone in the blink of an eye.
Look-alike

Taylen reminds me of 30 Rocks Tracy Morgan. They both have big smiles and just like Tracy Morgan makes me laugh at jokes, Taylen makes me laugh when he is obliterating Mountain West Defenses.
Career Highlights
Taylen started the last 10 games of last season after a rough start from the Bronco Offense. When Green’s name was called after a change at Offensive Coordinator, he stepped up to the plate, big time. He threw for 2042 yards and accounted for 14 passing and 10 rushing touchdowns, and was the only freshman QB in the country to rush for 10 touchdowns and pass for 10 touchdowns. He was the Mountain West Freshman of the Year, and has made a host of preseason All Mountain West teams, both first and second team. He also made the Maxwell Award Preseason Watchlist, the Davey O’Brien Award Preseason Watchlist, the Walter Camp Preseason Award Watchlist, and the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Preseason Watch List.
2023 Prospectus
Green established himself as one of the most exciting players in the nation last season, and should look to build on that from last season. He will be the favorite for the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year, and should be the best quarterback in the league by a considerable fashion. He has a lethal group of running backs behind him, and a deep wide receiver core that has speed and size. Green very well may be the next Bronco QB to lead BSU to the New Years Six, if the stars align. If his passing continues to develop, Green will be one of the top QBs in the nation this season.
Is he on Twitter?
Taylen is 100% a must follow on Twitter for Bronco Nation. His handle is @taylengreen17 and his pinned tweet is pretty dang sick!
Completely made up fact
When Vince Young retired from football, his skill left him and went to the next in line of elite rushing QBs, like the Avatar. Green was that QB, and has inherited Young’s talent.

The look-a-like; you gotta be kidding me.
I think BSU should open a media office specifically to promote Taylen Green as a Heisman winner.
Bronco Nation is clearly excited for Green and Co. If the stars (and 3/4 of the hype) is true, we could have a special run for the next two seasons (three?? Could someone this talented stay all four years if all goes as hopes?).
Still, hearts be still; everyone takes a deep breath and let the guy develop and grow. He will most likely have some errors and the pressure is probably immense.
Enjoy Green and Co and hope the trajectory is upward.
