Kind of a big surprise, considering that the bowl game has yet to take place. We rolling with Colt Fulton vs UCLA or is Tiller ready to start one game? Also, he included he “has not closed the door on returning to Boise State”. Which…that doesn’t make a ton of sense, but I guess we’ll see what happens next!

I know you have thoughts. Let us know what they are below! (Probably going to be some spicy takes, so…please remember to keep it PG haha)

I think that this sucks, and anyone who thinks the “portal” is a good thing needs to have their head examined.
I wonder if he was told that he’s not guaranteed to be the starter next year/or the bowl game.
Guaranteed that did not happen.
TG definitely starts the bowl game.
I pin this squarely on anyone who ever thought MadDog was the better QB option. We saw TG10 with our own eyes last year and then Avalos and Co gave up on him after they made the poor gameplan that didn’t fit his play style. Danielson obviously found better ways to use the weapons that this offense has but it may have been too little too late. I hope Danielson is in his ear right now whispering sweet nothings to him though because I don’t think I can watch MadDog try to play QB next year
To be clear, you should blame it squarely on the coach that made that decision. Fans are allowed to think someone else is a better option. No one pays us piles of money to know better.
Patti or die.
Hahahahaha!!! Patti for life!
Patti or Bust!!
Naturally I worry about our bowl situation, but it sounds like he’s trying to see if he can get an NIL deal at a P5 school. I’m not sure he’ll find what he’s looking for in a saturated market and the question will be how he (and potentially McAllister) are treated if they decide to come back
Green is taking bad advice if he thinks he can start at a P5 school. QB’s have to be prolific passers. He is not one. He is in the perfect situation here. Dominant run game that compliments his skill set well. Bush showed a glimpse of that in the championship game.
If he doesn’t play in this bowl game and they try to bring him back next year, I can’t get past that as a fan. He will have left his team hanging out to dry against a decent opponent. Right when they need him the most. Same with McAllister.
I would have to agree with you. I told my son, during the season, that Green was going to enter the portal. I don’t see him starting at any P5 school, for the reason you stated. As far as coming back, nope. You made your bed, now lie in it. Announcing you intend to leave the school (the reason for entering the portal in the first place) doesn’t allow for a return. Ask McAllister.
G- he could have waited. Why would he think of coming back???
I’ll bring the spice brother!!! Turns out some the players don’t give two spits about who is coaching, they just looking out for number 1. So with that in mind, was it worth it to go with an extremely inexperienced and unproven coach to bend the knee to the players in an attempt to keep them from transferring? I’m not backing off from my full support of Danielson. I’m in like Flynn baby because that’s how we roll, but the question must be asked and will absolutely be asked again down the road if this doesn’t work out. Right now… Read more »
Huge assumptions this all about “NIL Fortunes”. Pretty shallow even if you are tr
ying to be spicy.
Listen, Green showed who he was during Avalos’ last game. He was splitting time with Madsen, got called out to run some plays, scored a touchdown then sprinted past Avalos who was trying to congratulate him and sat down on the bench while making smug faces. I guarantee that he was one of the protagonists to Avalos being removed. Then as soon as that happens he promptly quits the team anyways. So obviously he wasn’t in it for the program that just smoked it’s HC to satisfy your cry baby pee pee pants antics. You can say all you want… Read more »
I want the dust to settle a little bit before condemnations set in. I hate to see TG10 go, only because he likely won’t be available for the UCLA game. I don’t think TG10’s NIL opportunities are better someplace else. Perhaps and it’s a big perhaps; perhaps he knows he can’t outperform Maddog and he may know that Jeanty is going to declare for the portal also. I think Danielson put it well, if a player really doesn’t want to be here, then go. Right now, I wish I had the room right below Green and Jeanty; I’d be waiting… Read more »
Very rational and reasonable response with respect to waiting till the dust settles.
But outrage and righteous indignation is more fun!!! Be a fan! Let it all out!!
Every time you mention Patti, I get a warm feeling and I tear up.
I’ve been waiting for the Jeanty announcement as well…sadly.
Well good for him, bad for us. Not sure where he’s going to end up but I do know this – he better have a really good QB coach or OC. I appreciate what he did while he was here but MW defenses are nothing like what he’s going to see in a P5 conference. Except maybe the PAC 2 since they’re going to be playing a lot of MW teams. Green still needs to learn to read a defense and cut down on his turnovers wherever he ends up playing.
A few things: TG10 seems like a really good guy. He’s not a power 5 QB for reasons that others have cited here–he just doesn’t have the eyes or the mechanics. He was beat out as first string QB here in Boise; I have no idea where he’d think he’d get to start at a higher ranking team. MadDog is also not a top tier starting QB, even in the Mountain West. If we’re going to die by the transfer portal, we might as well live by it, too. Other Mountain West squads have picked up solid QBs in the… Read more »
Did you just commie this up? Sure seems like it. GO BSU.
Disagree on Jeanty. As of right now he is one of our guys who is solid. Hopefully the program is supporting him the same as the rest of our blue collar studs that continue to show up every day and work hard. I’m not gonna anticipate anything moving forward. They are our guys until they aren’t and when they aren’t we have the next man waiting! As far as the transfer portal, maybe this program should take the approach of telling the players that we aren’t going to play the portal game. We have confidence in our recruits. They are… Read more »
I think you are right. There isn’t a single middle-class school in the bunch. The amount of money it takes to be competitive now is nuts. Coaches’ salaries in the millions AD’s, and Presidents all making ridiculous money. The entire system is built on free entertainment from the players.
Several good thoughts on this thread. I will say that I think the transfer portal is ruining College Football, far moreso than NIL. It’s not the kids fault. If they can go make life-changing money … any of us would do the same. The truly sad thing is that the vast majority of kids who enter the portal don’t get into a better situation. Regarding Taylen, specifically, the MWC Championship game showed his potential ceiling. If Danielson/Hamdan can flip TG back, Boise State would be the best place for him.
Agree 100% on the portal ruining college football. Disagree 100% on taking him back. You don’t get to quit on your team and then come back when it’s convenient.
Just as we have heard. If someone does not want to be here then leave. I made a lot of crazy decisions in my life. Some worked out and some did not. But it was a learning experience and that is part of being young and being a college student/athlete.
I wish the young man the best.
Here’s to next man up!
[…] peek into the future of Boise State football. Of course, the event was immediately followed by some less-than-ideal news, but even that didn’t take the shine off of a great […]
Anyone that may want the option to transfer has to get in the portal by Jan 2. It would make sense to wait until after the 16th and play the bowl game, but maybe Danielson is a hardliner that says if you go in the portal, see ya! I think he’s wise to test the water. The current rules are super awful, but if he can make a dime by moving, why not. We can also take advantage of the portal, just have to play a different game. We need guys that are hungry for wins, not for gold.
Didn’t the UCLA starting QB leave this week too? It is not a great spot to be left with a young walk on and a true freshman…but I am still of the opinion that we don’t want players to be here that don’t want to be here. That’s not gonna do anyone any good. Not the team or the player. Every year the transfer portal breaks a record for most players entered. Didn’t it go from 750+\- last year to like 4000+\- today? This is college football. If Green doesn’t want to play here, let’s find someone who does. The… Read more »
Preach Bronco Buddy!!! And that’s who fans and the staff should be focused on. The bleed blue guys that are putting the work in and dedicating themselves to this team.
I failed at that today. Will do better. Give me a shot coach.
Weeks ago, everyone was ready for Taylen Gree to leave & said we need to start & now you all are flip flopping with the “I’m not fat…… you’re fat…… & stupid” mentality. Great athlete….. Not a great QB. Taylen Green was a Harsin signee that Avalos (& Danielson) inherited with Hurricane Hank & as the kid is, I sincerely hope that Madsen either converts to WR or transfers. Embrace the world & let’s go find our QB of the future. If Fresno can produce a Carr (2 of them) & Utah State can produce Love & Wyoming can produce… Read more »
Nicely written and well-reasoned. Concerning Mad Dog. I don’t care if he’s 6’5″ or 5’6″, if he gets the job done that’s all I care about and the same goes for Green. It seems as if Green plays better without Mad Dog barking at his heels. Some players are best when they play with someone good competing with them others don’t. I’ve had both situations and I played a lot better knowing I could make a mistake and not be benched. And I’ve played where the guy behind me made me work harder. Indeed, I hate to see Green go… Read more »
I think this is about the offense, specifically Hamden. He was Avalos first choice at coordinator and I think he only had a one year contract, so I say there’s a slim chance he’s let go (again, slim). It’s also clear Green wasn’t a good fit for his offense, given how much better Madsen was. If the offense stays the same, I say it’s best for everyone for Green to leave. If they make some changes that benefit Green, maybe he stays. Green is in the same position as Bo Nix was two years ago: an athletic quarterback who struggled… Read more »
247sports doesn’t show Green in their portal tracker anymore. I’m kinda wondering if he withdrew🤷🏼♂️
As of a minute ago, still there.

Addendum; Indeed TG’s name is no longer on the composite list, yet remains on the team list, as linked above. BJ Rains interviewed Danielson and said they were still in talks with TG and his father.
TG to Arkansas
Saw that, hope he enjoys his time there, I’m guessing it will be a steep learning curve for him
Welcome.
