There has already been a lot of (digital) ink spilled in recent days about the players that were rumored or confirmed to be joining the Broncos via the transfer portal. However, today, the additions were finalized and Boise State now officially has the services of the players below, in addition to the recruiting class that was likewise made official last month
From BroncoSports.com:
“Cam Camper, WR
The leading receiver for Indiana in 2022 despite only seeing action in seven games, Cam Camper started in every game until suffering a season-ending knee injury. His first collegiate appearance witnessed Camper catch 11 passes for 156 yards in the season-opener against Illinois which remains the most by a Hoosier in a debut in program history. Over his two seasons, he totaled 854 yards receiving on 63 catches, averaging 13.5 yards per reception in his 15 games played.
Jeremiah Earby, CB
After spending two seasons at California, Jeremiah Earby heads to the Treasure Valley after making 10 starts in 24 games played over two seasons with the Bears. He totaled 62 tackles, 17 pass break-ups, two fumble recoveries and two interceptions over a pair of seasons in Berkeley.
Malachi Nelson, QB
Malachi Nelson, the highest-rated recruit to join the Blue and Orange, was a five-star quarterback out of high school and redshirted the 2023 season at Southern California. The nation’s No. 1 rated recruit in the 2023 signing class according to ESPN, Nelson provides immediate needed depth in the quarterback room.
Jarrett Reeser, K/P
Making the Pacific-to-Mountain move across the Mountain West, Jarrett Reeser joins the Broncos after two seasons at San Diego State. He provides additional depth on special teams after receiving first team all-state (California) honors in high school and was rated as the No. 37 kicker in the 2021 class by Chris Sailer Kicking.
Tavion Woodard, DL
Woodard may have a leg up on all the transfers heading to the Treasure Valley this spring, having spent the past four seasons with new Boise State co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach Tyler Stockton at Ball State. Woodard compiled 83 total tackles (46 solo, 37 assisted) in 42 games played at Ball State while making 28 starts. He was credited with 17 tackles for loss of 76 yards including 11 sacks for loss of 61 yards, three passes defended and two forced fumbles.
All five additions to the Broncos roster are expected to be on campus this week and available for spring practice.“
The fact that Boise State pulled one of the greatest recruiting wins in school history shouldn’t overshadow the fact that the Broncos were able to add highly experienced help from the P5 at corner and wide receiver as well. Nothing is guaranteed or proven until on the field but those transfers, Nelson, Earby, and Camper, are all talented. Earby and Camper particularly have a lot of experience in the Pac-12 (r.i.p.) and Big 10, respectively. The other additions, Woodard and Reeser come with their own impressive accolades and accomplishments and will add value to the roster as additional options for their position groups.
As a whole, this has been a hugely successful offseason with regard to the transfer portal for Spencer Danielson and co. They lost (relatively) very few players to it, where many other schools–G5 and P5–were absolutely gutted by it. And, on the flipside, they were able to bring in some incredible talent. The position battles in the spring and fall, particularly at quarterback, should be ones to remember!

I wrote this before, I’m going to miss TG10. He had an incredible ability to find the flag and reach the ball across the plane. Some of his runs were electrifying. The truth is, he was a second-stringer. He could not pass–it’s that simple. When you have a tall, fast athlete who can’t pass, you have a wide receiver. Frankly, MacAllister was more hype than substance. To be fair, he didn’t stick it out so he could live up to the hype. He quit. And it wasn’t for lack of targets. Don’t get me wrong, he is good, but where… Read more »
I really enjoy the progress that Coach D has made in the last few months.
Seems like he has a grip on the team and has the players best interest at heart.
Cannot wait for next season.
My impression of him at this point is that he sends a clear message with earnestness and honesty. He may lose a couple by being that way to some slick-tongue con coach with all the ethics of a shylock. Those guys rise and fall with the tide but guys like Daneilson are here for the long term. If he works his magic as a head coach as he has in retaining players and recruiting, I hope we have him for at least six or seven good years. Every coach has a shelf life. It takes someone special to coach a… Read more »
I just heard Dorian Singer was in town (transfer portal, WR, USC). I think the only thing that has been holding back more players from California is In and Out. Now that we have one…
In and Out is trash. Whataburger on the other hand….
It’s all in the fries! Can’t have a good burger without decent fries and I don’t know what in and out is doing, but their fries are terrible.
Also, Go Broncos!!!
To be fair, Boise, it’s what you’re raised on. Some folks like Five Guys; me not so much. I had a Wendy’s last week; double with MPO. It was pretty good. I’ve had some not-so-good at Wendy’s too. Everybody has their hometown favorite and nothing else will do. I’ve had the In and Out burgers. They put a lot of stuff on them and it’s hard to taste what the burger is really like. My opinion is that the burger should stand out and not the stuff they put on it. Angus with 85/15 blend and a fresh bun lightly… Read more »
Ron Swanson, is that you?
I am not. However, we must be on the same page.
You know you can order the burgers without the ‘stuff’, right? I worked in the city where In-n-Out started, and we used their warehouses for training. They had sides of beef brought in nightly, and the butchers would do their thing before making the hamburger patties. I know what’s in those….
somebody tell me that Manley’s is still around, up the hill above Protest, maybe?
Its a park now!!!
Manleys? Big Judds?
The boys are holding their own against Colorado State. Let’s gooooo!!!
Broncos pull off the win! Great game!
I tuned in to the BJ Rains post-game show. From his demeanor, I thought the Broncos lost. However, he was all bummed about the students rushing the floor. He said you don’t do this in an early season conference game with a #17. Apparently, the students forgot to either read or go to the class on Student Etiquette at Basketball Games. There is a whole chapter and lecture on this very subject; when to rush the floor. It states; “Student behavior is important. They should refrain from any displays of exuberance that may embarrass opponents. We want them to leave… Read more »
BJ is a curmudgeonly sort. I like Bronco Nation News, and kudos to him for building it. Still, he is pretty humorless. However, Prater is an institution in Boise now, and he can project a “get off my lawn” vibe as well. Let’s smile a bit people! Things are GOOD in Bronco-land at the moment! 🙂
My post was tongue-in-cheek. I like what BJ has done with BNN. He is really a good reporter and has good perspectives.
I’m glad you like him. I like BNN, and I think he does a really good job with content. I don’t love his over-serious personality or his holier-than-thou attitude toward passionate fans. Your post was tongue-in-cheek; mine was serious. BJ is a grumpy curmudgeon. Whatever … to each his own. 😉
I find all those things true about him. I sort of understand him. I think he said his dad was a sports journalist so he likely had developed the ability to remain stoic. and even cross at times when fans don’t react as he does. However, he loves what he does.
Prater is the man. He loves what he does. He is very good at it. We need him as he keeps us up to the minute on breaking BSU new. Charge on Mike. I really enjoy your perspective…
Agreed! Sorry if I sound overly critical of him. He does a really good job. Same thing with Prater. They rub me the wrong way sometimes, but they still are important voices for Bronco Nation! 🙂
This is a good time to wax philosophical. Likely we said to some of the most important people in our lives, “I wish I’d never met you.” Or words to that effect. We don’t mean it. It’s the heat of the moment. We say the same things about folks we don’t know. We don’t have a basis for it and most generally it’s not the other person–it’s us. I think places like First Kick is one of those places where we can say one thing one day and it won’t held against us the next. As fans, we just like… Read more »
Have always despised Prater. I don’t even remember why now…
Tevin Griffey added as well! Home run signing….🙃
Wow, you beat me by two minutes. But here’s something you don’t know. He went to Dr Phillips High School, the same High School as–drum roll———Nick Patti.
Tevin Griffey has committed to Boise. He’s a DB from Florida A&M.
Griffey is not a scholarship player; preferred walk-on. Danielson said they were four players over the scholarship limit at this point. When spring camp is over, things will likely thin out a little. I’ve taken a random survey of some P5 programs and the number of players entering the transfer portal from those teams surveyed appears to be about a recruiting class. So losing a class to the portal and graduating a class means those programs replace about half of their squads. The Broncos have lost five players to the portal. Quite a few have remained who otherwise could have… Read more »
It looks as if Stacy Collins will return to the Broncos, presumably, as special teams coach. I hope this is a special teams upgrade. The Broncos have two of the best kickers in the country. It would be nice to have 10 players around them who can tackle. And can an Avery Wiliams blossom from the desert of lackluster punt and kick returns?
Collins sounds like he’ll make an immediate difference. I can’t remember what special teams was like when he was here previously, but it can’t be much worse than this last season. I read an article a bit earlier on a Penn State fan site and it said that he had made a big impact on SP+ and was going to be missed. If he just cleans things up a bit, it could be HUGE. Just this last seasons we would have won against Memphis (they blocked a FG), against Colorado State (they recovered one or two onside kicks), and maybe… Read more »
Yep, that’s the way I saw it. Special teams have been a hot mess except for the kickers.
