Stacy Collins Returns To Football Staff
Stacy Collins is returning to the Broncos after a two year stint as the special teams coordinator at Penn State. One of the concerns many had with Spencer Danielson being named the head coach was the limited number of places he had coached and could then prospectively attract coaching talent from. Well…that concern won’t be entirely put to rest by today’s move, because the coach he was able to lure back to The Blue has been here before, but it can’t be overstated how big it is that he was recruited away from a successful Big 10 program. Indications are that he will be coaching special teams, but also adding “Linebackers”, and “Assistant Head Coach” to his job description. The hire should bring some stability to a special teams unit that had some struggles in K/P coverage in 2023 and is already a big hit with some Broncos…
This news will, of course, make a good addendum to this piece from Ron Counts on Boise State’s special teams performance in 2023.
Additional Transfer News
The son of MLB Hall of Famer, Ken Griffey Jr. has joined Boise State as a preferred walk-on.
Resident Seattleites in the Boise sports media–Johnny Mallory and Jay Tust, specifically, were VERY excited.
Basketball Improving
In addition to the Broncos’ win on Tuesday vs #17 Colorado State, their earlier wins are making their schedule look more impressive via the accomplishments prior opponents have had since facing Boise State.

The Best Running Back In The Country Attends Award Ceremony
It was his first, but it won’t be his last. Especially if the Doak Walker decision-makers stop doing drugs and actually watch college football in 2024.
The best news is the return of Stacy Collins, He may be the senior member of the staff and with that, he will bring stability and maturity. The special teams are a mess; with the exception of James Fergeson-Reynolds and Jonah Dalmas. It’s good to get a DB with experience but Tevin Griffey was not nearly as as good of a transfer as Earby from Cal. However, maybe he just needs a good program in which to shine. The Broncos have done well in the transfer portal. It would be nice to attract another proven WR. Frankly, I think the… Read more »
For some reason, I thought Griffey was a much sought after athlete. Turns out not to be the case! As far as Clark, innocent until proven guilty, as you said. I do find it interesting that this incident allegedly took place in August but, wasn’t reported until after the bowl game.
Not counting the tight ends, the Broncos will retune five receivers who have made some sort of a contribution on The Blue (they have caught a pass) They are Caples, Penry, Bolt, Strachan, and Wright. I don’t know what happened to Wright this past year but the year before he had a couple of big receptions. Cam Camper comes over from Indiana. Also, five recruits are coming in as designated wide receivers or athletes. Venturing a guess, a couple of the new guys may end up returning kicks and punts. It looks like a pretty full wide receiver room. From… Read more »
It looks as if Chubba Purdy will be going to San Jose. There was a rumor he was talking with Boise. However, Malachi Nelson spoke up first and got the prize.
Boise State could teach the CIA something about keeping secrets. Man, that Malachi
Nelson thing came out of nowhere. This leads me to wonder; when will the next shoe drop? What I mean is, is there another high-profile recruit to come?
There was a rumor about Dorian Singer coming this way (I may have started it). Not so. He’s gone to Utah.

Cole Wright has entered the transfer portal.
Concerning Wright, Danielson mentioned at a news conference they were four players over the scholarship limit. He added there would be some difficult conversations with some of the players. Whether or not a conversation took place with Wright or not, I don’t know. Sometimes a player can see the handwriting on the wall. Whatever the situation; the best to Mr. Wright. You gave it your best. You’ll always be a Bronco. And the best wherever you go.
I’ve noticed that the news and updates coming out of FKWG have been really slow/sparse lately. Everything OK? I felt like the site was starting to generate some good buzz and activity again (almost, not quite, back to OBNUG days).
By lately, I mean the last week or two.
In case you haven’t noticed, I try tossing some things out there to stimulate conversations or posts. The people who run this do it for free. Some advertisements pay per click but I doubt if they make 20 bucks a month. So basically this is a hobby for them. On top of that, they have to pay somebody to host the website. From the looks of their format, they use WordPress. Without a discount, that can run 10 to 30 dollars a month. They probably go in the hole. OBNUG used to have WUBN, that was a daily post. It… Read more »
Jittery that was an outstanding description as to the amount of work that is necessary to run a site like this. Thanks for the explanation. I wish I had something to contribute. I love having a place to go to read about the updates surrounding BSU sports. Thanks to all who contribute….
Thanks, Danny G. I tossed out a lot of random thoughts. I really do appreciate the time FKWG writers devote. I view this as a place to go that is the voice of recent events and at times the voice of dissent. Because this is a site hosted by amateurs, seldom if ever do they get a scoop. However, they do post things fans can comment on freely. I think that’s why many come here. I just like reading the comments. I want to know what fellow Bronco fans are thinking. Money does not move amateurs; it is the love… Read more »
I do understand that this site has changed since the SB Nation days. I do appreciate the hard work that the contributors put in. I had just noticed that it was 7 days since a new post of any kind from the site itself. Mainly, I was just hoping to hear an “all is good, just slow news/we’re busy.” I appreciate this forum. Bronco Nation News puts out regular content but there is very little ability for fans to comment. Most of the Facebook fan sites are pretty “meh.” Thus, I appreciate FKWG a lot and get a little nervous… Read more »
We’re still very much around! We’re less active in the football offseason just because there’s fewer stories about it. In the interest of full transparency, I’ve been personally weighed down by a couple things: 1) My company I work for in real life (as much as I love Bronco football, I do have a day job haha) is expanding and a lot of the regulatory compliance and staffing responsibilities of that fall to me. 2) I’m a little reticent to reveal this, but…I don’t know basketball super well. So, while I could put some things together for it, I worry… Read more »
Thanks for giving followers a thoughtful reply. I am just one reader and one seer. One thing I’m certain of is that the last few posts from readers should be music to your ears; readers care. That means there is a lot of respect and appreciation for what you do (all of you). As regards to WUBN, it was nice but if there’s nothin’ to say, say nothin’. Many of us got so used to the SB Nation comment board that anything else felt foreign and unfriendly; the “recs” and so on. Still have that but it’s just different. I… Read more »
I for one consistently post with little or nothing of value. Typically nonsensical mind diarrhea.
Just wanted to point that out. But hell yeah! This site rules. Go Broncos!!! Thanks for posting content when you do. Bronco Twitter kind of sucks.
Thanks Michael! 😀
Basketball team is cookin! Have watched a couple of their games this year they look tough Defensively. What they are doing they’re their starting lineup is unsustainable though. Can’t play those starters for basically the entire game and expect them to perform well down the stretch in every game. I also don’t understand the max rice minutes. He hasn’t been shooting well at all since they started conference play. Need to cut his minutes down and get some more bench play.
Yep, those starters have to be exhausted. However, with all the TV timeouts, playing an entire game or 30-plus minutes ain’t what it used to be. Max doesn’t make many mistakes with the ball and without the ball. Missing shots don’t put a guy on the bench. Taking bad shots does. If a guy is a bad shot and he’s shooting, that’s a problem but Rice is a good shooter. Good shooters shoot. That said, there has to be a time when the coach says, “Maybe you should pass up the shot and pass the shot.” After a guy learns… Read more »
