Is the countdown flying by or dragging along? Maybe a mix of both? Either way, we have arrived at day 84, which brings us to Zamondra Merriweather.

How’d he get to the Blue™?

By having a great high school career. The consensus three-star (and consensus top 100 recruit in California) helped lead his team to back-to-back Foothill League title games by catching 43 passes for 661 yards and five total touchdowns. He held offers at one time from Colorado State, Florida State, Maryland, New Mexico, and San Diego State but chose… the Broncos over the summer and held firm until signing day.

Career Highlights

He has yet to see the field in college, and there are whispers that he’s been bitten by the injury bug once or twice so far.

2024 Prospectus

A year ago, I wrote he had a chance to play a bit from the get go and see his snaps increase as the season went on. However, the opposite actually happened and Zamondre did not play. This year, the wide receiver room looks stacked, assuming everyone stays healthy anyway. Latrell Caples, Austin Bolt, Prince Strachan, Cam Camper, Chris Marshall, and Chase Penry will be the top six in some order. It’s going to be hard for Merriweather to see the field unless there is an injury, and he’s going to have to stay healthy himself. Hopefully, this is the year he can finally get the field, perhaps on special teams or during garbage time. He is definitely talented enough, but now needs a combination of health and opportunity to showcase that talent.

Is he on Twitter?

He is, when he isn’t busy getting better.

Completely made up fact

Zamondre has taken up the hobby of fly fishing. He’s been competing in regional events and hopes to qualify for nationals.
