How’d he get to The Blue™?
The race for Chase heated up late in the recruiting cycle. Up until last November, his only offers were Ohio and a few Mountain West schools. The next few weeks heated up with Baylor and Wazzu entering the race. Then, in December, Chase got an offer he couldn’t refuse. One of the winningest programs in the country, 3-time Fiesta Bowl winner and national darling, the Boise State Broncos sent an offer his way, 2 weeks before signing day. He visited the next day, and signed the dotted line on signing day.
Nickname
Cha-Mar-der
Because of his fiery play on the field.
Look-alike

I’m getting vibes for Matt Bradley of the JTP on the Goldbergs.
Career Highlights
Martin played as a true freshman last season and not just the kind where a redshirt was preserved. It was burned (another reason for him to be Cha-Mar-der). Chase played in all 14 games and even started two of them. But his calling card was his special teams play, especially on kickoff coverage. He is credited with 14 tackles, 7 of them being of the solo variety. Martin laid some huge hits on special teams, and unfortunately, a few were a bit too huge and led to some penalties.
2024 Prospectus
Assuming that Chase has spent part of the offseason learning to coral his tackling power just a bit, it should be a great season for him. The starting linebackers are pretty set in Andrew Simpson and Marco Notarainni. However, Martin and Jake Ripp figure to be the backups in some fashion. The past two seasons, a third linebacker emerged as a starting-caliber talent who stepped into a bigger role due to injuries and proved up to the task. There’s no reason it can’t be Chase this year.
Regardless, expect him to be a huge part of what the Broncos do on special teams, carry the Hammer a few times, and be a prominent backup on the defense.
Is he on Twitter?
He is! @chasemartin_12. He’s more retweets than tweets, but it’s clear he is bleeding blue.
Completely made up fact
Chase is known to some as a linebacker and others as a special-teamer. But most people don’t know he nearly qualified for the Olympics this year, competing in the skip-it event.
90’s kids should remember skip-its.
