With the 2024 football season having concluded, Boise State football coach, Spencer Danielson, met with the Boise sports media today to tie a bow on the year and discuss a little bit of off-season planning and 2025. Among the topics discussed, he revealed that backup quarterback Max Cutforth would be receiving a scholarship, offensive line coach, Tim Keane, would be adding “run game coordinator” to his job title. He also talked about how he was excited to bring Zak Hill back and what role he would fill. There is also some discussion of NIL, and how fans and Idaho businesses can help support Boise state players going forward.

It seems to me this past season was a rebuilding year.
I thought it would be Zak Hill or Chris Petersen.
Keyjaun Brown, reported by BNN as coming to Boise, has withdrawn from the portal and will remain in Louisville. It would be nice to develop or find a Tyler Crowe type of running back.
That decision made me wonder how much of his decision was based on NIL money, and how much was based on him seeing the stable of RB’s we have.
Beyond Jeanty, we only saw a flash from Gains because of an injury and very little from Dubar because of an injury. Thus, there went the Bronco’s stacked RB room.
I just heard Koetter say next year’s offense will look completely different than this year’s. In retrospect, it appears, Danielson and Koetter pulled a rabbit out of the hat this year.
I thought his presser was rather interesting. Coach D isn’t one to mince words, and lays everything out for all to see. He answers questions with valid responses, and certainly has a plan in place. I recall a former HC who did none of those things, and also didn’t appear to be completely entrenched. His replacement sure is…
I wonder if SD will become a model for other coaches. Nah, the scum usually rises to the top.
It seems as if the Broncos are trying everything to get a transfer QB. They have only four counting the recent walk-on, Zeke Martinez. However, only three are on scholarship.
Meanwhile, Malichi Nelson ends up at UTEP. I hope this is not the sad ending to his career. He came to Boise with grand expectations but was not a fit. Seemed like a nice guy. Everyone wanted him to succeed. I hope he gets some good game experience and lights it up. The best to him.
Something is telling about the Nelson saga. Why did people who saw him only take a few snaps conclude he should start instead of Madsen? That’s a question.
If Malachi develops into a 1st or 2nd round QB & plays like a stud at UTEP (maybe transfers back to a P4 school) then the BSU coaches look like idiots for not playing him.
If he fades away into oblivion or maybe a 7th round pick (at best) then the BSU coaches look like geniuses for letting him go. Time will tell.
