Stats

Height: 5′ 8″

Weight: 177 lbs

High school: Pacifica HS

Hometown: Oxnard, CA

Previous School: Fresno State

How’d he get to The Blue™?

By us continuing the tradition of adding talent that crushed our souls at some point in 2023. Yesterday, we profiled a kicker that had the walk-off FG in 2023 for UCF to beat us.  Today, we have the player that had a 95 yard kick return for Fresno State, seconds before halftime, in what would be a 37-30 loss to an 8-1 Bulldog squad.

Malik was a talented three star that broke his high school’s record for career rushing yards. He parlayed that into offers from AF, Fresno State, and a few FCS schools. He worked his way up the ranks and had a solid 2023 season with 1,226 rushing/receiving yards and 10 TDs. He added another 236 yards and a score on kick returns. Things all seemed to set up for a monster 2024, but unfortunately he sustained a season-ending injury just four games in. Taking advantage of the extra year and turning a frown upside down, he found himself joining his previous rival, and overall vastly better place: Boise State.

Nickname

“Malikious Intent”

No, really. In his own words, he’s “trying to kill whoever’s on the other side of me.” I do not advise playing checkers against this man, but I do love the mentality. And in an offensive player, no less…

Career Highlights

Pretty much the aforementioned 2023 season, but likely punctuated by this exceptionally frustrating moment (video on the right):

2025 Prospectus

Embarrassment of riches would be an understatement in describing the Boise State running back room. There are legitimately 3-4 running backs on this roster that would start at any MW school and probably one or two that could start at most schools in the country. I’m not sure where exactly Malik will be on the depth chart, but I know he has gamebreaking speed. College Football 2026 has him as the lead back. Even if he’s not, he will heavily factor into the offense and be special on special teams.

Is he on Twi/X?

Yep. @MalikSherrod. Fair warning though, it’s mostly retweets.

Completely made up fact

Since he was able to learn to love a former rival, Malik wants to explore that dynamic more and will be starring as Romeo in a remake of the Shakespearean classic, Romeo and Juliet. He’s also in talks for a dramatization of the Hatfield/McCoy feud.
