Ahead of this weekend’s match-up at Wyoming, the main Boise State football coaches met with the media today to discuss the upcoming game. Here is what they had to say, in their own words:

(Video) Pre-Wyoming Interviews With Boise State Football Coaches Avalos, Danielson, and Koetter

This year shows the absolute importance of each game- regardless of opponent or their record. The UTEP loss was embarrassing and cost BSU a ranking and moreover respect. UTEP is 4-6 now. Btw? That BYU player was clearly out of bounds. Having said that, the Broncos had better not sleep on Wyoming or U State. You saw what happened in El Paso.
Question to all the Nuggies? What bowl would you like to see the Broncos play in and against which opponent? Which opponent would you deem credible?
I’ve made a case for this elsewhere, but…I’d be perfectly content with a rematch against Oregon State. Their defense was solid, but I’d love to see what Taylen could do with his newfound passing ability if he started the game from the first snap.
Andy A has really grown. Now just hire a good OC that will take pressure off him they way Koetter has done.
Harsin?
I don’t think Harsin would be willing to work under his former DC. That said, something Andy mentioned a few weeks ago leads me to believe the next OC is already on staff. He said pretty definitively that they would know who it is before the early signing day. So, unless he misunderstood the question and interpreted it as the old signing day, or he has been having very serious conversations with someone outside the program already, someone that’s not currently working…I think that person is Matt Miller.
Hopefully we win the conference and go to the LA bowl. Of the PAC12, I think a rematch with WSU would be good, or even OSU. I think there are mixed feelings about OSU given we already played them, but it would be a good revenge game now that we have Green in there and can play like we know we can.
I was actually thinking about this too and I decided I would like a rematch with OSU haha. I was there in Corvallis and saw it all up close. That game very much would have been different if the present day iteration of Taylen had started and played the whole time. Also, I think that Kaniho has added some valuable experience since then and our pass coverage would actually hold up better now that some new edge rushers have had a chance to get some experience (since pressuring BYU very little, that is). That OSU game wasn’t as out of… Read more »
I don’t know that we want an OSU rematch. Their defense is pretty darn good. Took my Pop Warner team to watch them play Cal last weekend and was impressed. Obviously think it would be a completely different game, but in my mind we still have a lot of improving to do. It’s easy to get giddy about pistol whipping Nevada until you remember that they are terrible.
To MichaelFKWG.
It was a joke about Harsin.
If indeed the hire does come from within, will it be Bhonapha, Miller, or Keane?
Bhonapha not so much. He seems to be satisfied as a position coach and behind the scenes guy.
Keane? OC at College of Idaho. Meh.
Kirby Moore? I wouldn’t mind seeing him come over from FresNO. I don’t think he’s a lightweight. He’s a full blown OC.
Miller? He’s had some OC experience in Montana. I hope he’s been paying attention to Koetter. My money is on him.
I completely agree with you about KB (and Miller). It seems he’s very happy being a running backs coach and only a running backs coach. If I had to guess, my money is on Miller too. Having him get the extra tutelage under Koetter to develop a system that won’t be entirely foreign to returning players next year (whereas one that comes from an external hire might be) seems like a very sensible strategy. We could definitely be wrong, but!…we could also be right 😉
Id like to see OSU again I think BSU has come along way sine the first week of Sept. Or any of the California teams would be nice.
