88? Already?? This is excellent news! We are just barreling along to the opener. Today, we’ll be highlighting a newcomer from the outside. A senior transfer from Texas Tech.
#TBD, Ethan Carde, 6Y SR, OL

Stats
Height: 6′ 8″
Weight: 320 lbs
High school: Bloomingdale HS, Valrico, FL
How’d he get to The Blue™?
Carde has taken a circuitous route in his journey to the promised land. His high school career got him to Coffeyville Community College in Kansas, where he appeared in 8 games in his lone season there. Ultimately, he left there for Texas Tech, where he started the first 7 games at left tackle in his sophomore year and appeared in 10 overall. In 2021, he played in seven games with two starts–one of which was at right guard. As a senior, he was a reserve and appeared in 12 games, missing the regular season finale vs Oklahoma with an injury. He was recognized on the All-Big 12 Academic second team.
Nickname
“Quarter Thor”
He’s actually only an inch shorter than The Mountain (Hafthor Bjornsson), but at 6’8″ is still very large human being. I’m assuming he doesn’t also hold the world deadlift record that Hafthor does. So…he can be Quarter Thor.

Career Highlights
Aside from the All-Conference Academic Honors that he garnered at Texas Tech, the line on which Carde started in 2020 only allowed 1.6 sacks per game.
2023 Prospectus
With some key departures along the o-line, there’s going to be some uncertainty and shuffling, but there’s also going to be a lot of players coming back that have been with the program for awhile. So, Carde will definitely get a shot to make his mark, but he’ll also have some stiff competition. And he’ll presumably provide it right back. All of which is a positive for the offensive line as a whole and the best will earn their spots when it’s all said and done.

Completely made up fact
Ethan’s party trick is that he’s a sleeper world class limbo player and he’s embarrassed many men at barbecues that are (literally) half the man he is
Look-alike, nah, not even close. Maybe just shelf the look-alikes from here on out?
