We are “the number that drives an obscene amount of positive feelings in these parts” and also “The level to which Spinal Tap had the capacity to crank it” days away from the start of something magical! Today’s player doesn’t actually even wear that number, but he’s slotted in here regardless. Because, jersey duplicates. So, today, meet…
#15, Tyler Wegis, RS Senior, Defensive End

Stats
Height: 6’6″
Weight: 242 (+19)
High school: San Juan Hills High School (Mission Viejo, CA)
How’d he get to The Blueâ„¢?
By way of the ol’ transfer portal, from the University of Utah. Before that, however, he was a 3 star high school recruit from Mission Viejo, CA. In his senior year he racked up 92 tackles, including 37 (!!!!) for a loss, 10.5 sacks, three pass break ups…*deep breath and continue*…three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and a blocked extra point attempts.
Nickname
“Warface”
And he’s so good at making a warface that I was legitimately taken aback for a second when he smiled a lot in his pinned commitment Tweet below. It just seemed so out of character with the roster image I had grown accustomed to!
Look-alike

Currently? His own mirror. In 40 years though? Dead ringer for actor, Bruce McGill.
Career Highlights
After redshirting 2020 and not getting on the field in 2021, Tyler got into a game vs Arizona in 2022 and notched a tackle. In 2023, he played in four games and accumulated another tackle. Since that’s not a lot to go on, you can also check out the high school highlights that got him recruited to begin with here.
2024 Prospectus
Wegis has size (6’6″, with an EXTRA 19 pounds from last year) and talent but, as of yet, that has not translated to a ton of stats. This year, he will be contending for playing time with the likes of The Hassassin and Tavion Woodard. It’s likely that he will primarily provide quality depth and support in 2024, but if he gets a chance to show out, I’d be VERY excited. He’s been one of my sleepers for awhile, but this will be his last bite at the apple.
Is he on Twitter?
Yes.
Completely made up fact
Kelly Ripa misses the “iss” sound in the name across from her, but she also misses having a defensive end in that spot too. So, once his football career has concluded, get ready for…”Wegis and Kelly”
